Transoral robotic surgery for advanced oropharyngeal carcinoma.
- G. Weinstein, B. O'Malley, Marc A. Cohen, H. Quon
- MedicineArchives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck…
- 15 November 2010
This novel transoral robotic surgery treatment regimen offers disease control, survival, and safety commensurate with standard treatments and an unexpected beneficial outcome of gastrostomy dependency rates that are markedly lower than those reported with standard nonsurgical therapies.
Transoral robotic surgery: radical tonsillectomy.
- G. Weinstein, B. O'Malley, Wendy Snyder, E. Sherman, H. Quon
- MedicineArchives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck…
- 1 December 2007
Radical tonsillectomy using TORS is a new technique that offers excellent access for resection of carcinomas of the tonsil with acceptable acute morbidity and long-term oncologic and functional outcomes.
Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for Base of Tongue Neoplasms
- B. O'Malley, G. Weinstein, Wendy Snyder, N. Hockstein
- MedicineThe Laryngoscope
- 1 August 2006
Objective: To develop a minimally invasive surgical technique for the treatment of base of tongue neoplasms using the optical and technical advantages of robotic surgical instrumentation.
Essential role of POU-domain factor Brn-3c in auditory and vestibular hair cell development.
- M. Xiang, L. Gan, J. Nathans
- BiologyProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences…
- 19 August 1997
The Brn-3c phenotype reported here demonstrates that each of the BrN-3 genes plays distinctive roles in the somatosensory, visual, and auditory/vestibular systems.
Transoral robotic surgery alone for oropharyngeal cancer: an analysis of local control.
- G. Weinstein, H. Quon, B. O'Malley
- MedicineArchives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck…
- 1 July 2012
As the only modality used for treatment of pathologically low-risk OSCCs, TORS provides high local control and is associated with low surgical morbidity.
Transoral Robotic Surgery: Supraglottic Partial Laryngectomy
- G. Weinstein, B. O'Malley, Wendy Snyder, N. Hockstein
- MedicineAnnals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology
- 1 January 2007
The preliminary results of this series suggest that application of the da Vinci robotic surgical system for TORS to supraglottic partial laryngectomy is technically feasible and relatively safe and most importantly, TORS provides an alternative to open approaches and “conventional” transoral supranuclear cancer surgery.
Endoscopic closure of CSF rhinorrhea: 193 cases over 21 years

An approach to fulminant invasive fungal rhinosinusitis in the immunocompromised host.
- M. Gillespie, B. O'Malley, H. Francis
- MedicineArchives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck…
- 1 May 1998
Rigid nasal endoscopy with frozen section biopsy of suspicious nasal lesions and high-incidence areas allows for the timely diagnosis of invasive fungal rhinosinusitis and favorable prognostic signs include the ability to achieve a complete surgical resection and a positive response to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor in the neutropenic patient.
Selective neck dissection and deintensified postoperative radiation and chemotherapy for oropharyngeal cancer: A subset analysis of the university of pennsylvania transoral robotic surgery trial
- G. Weinstein, H. Quon, B. O'Malley, Grace G. Kim, Marc A. Cohen
- MedicineThe Laryngoscope
- 1 September 2010
The purpose of this study was to determine the regional recurrence rate of node‐positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) in patients undergoing transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and…
A new immunocompetent murine model for oral cancer.
- B. O'Malley, K. Cope, C. Johnson, M. Schwartz
- MedicineArchives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck…
- 1997
A new oral cancer animal model is introduced that shows initial locoregional tumor invasion, direct extension into the neck, early cervical metastases, and pulmonary metastases that reflect the biological behavior and tumor progression seen in human oral cancer and therefore provide a model for clinically applicable research for primary and metastatic head and neck cancer.
