Energy conservation in malolactic fermentation by Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus sake
The results indicate that malo-lactic fermentation by these bacteria can be coupled with energy conservation, and that membrane energetization and ATP synthesis through this metabolic activity are due to malate uptake and/or lactate excretion rather than to an ion-translocating decarboxylase enzyme.
Fast liquid chromatographic determination of organic acids in fermentation media with short glass columns
Organic acids are separated on short glass columns (50×3.8 mm i.d.) packed with a weakly basic anion-exchanger (DEAE/Si-100 Polyol; 3-μm particle size). The mobile phase is 0.1 M or 0.05 M potassium…
Horizontal transmission of intracellular endosymbiotic bacteria : a case between mites and fruit flies and its evolutionary implications
Insect intracellular endosymbiotic bacteria of the genus Wolbachia are known to play an important role in the evolution of their hosts by influencing the hosts’ sex ratios and creating sexual…
Microfungi on Rosaceae in eastern Westphalia (Sauerland, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany).
Microfungi occuring on Rosaceae in the Sauerland were examined and Discosia potentillae Lib.
Characterization of biotechnological processes and products using high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) V. Analysis of organic acids in the 2‐oxo‐D‐gluconic acid synthesis
A HPLC method for the separation of 2-oxo-D-gluconic acid and 5-oxo-D-gluconic acid was developed and applied to the investigation of the microbial glucose conversion to oxogluconic acids. …

UV/VIS diffuse reflectance and fluorescence spectroscopy of glucose fermentation with saccharomyces cerevisiae
UV/VIS diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy have been used to investigate the cytochrome and pyridine nucleotide spectra during aerobic biomass growth of Saccharomyces…
Conversion of polyolefin wax to carbon adsorbents by thermooxidation treatment
Carbon adsorbents with different properties were obtained from furfural and mixture of furfural and polymer waste (polyolefine wax) with different activation reagents and different conditions of…
