TLDR
Spermiogenesis in Aporina delafonidi differs from that of the other Cyclophyllidea by the very early movement of the nucleus into the differentiation zone, the formation of a ring of arched membranes in the distal part of the differentiation Zone, the appearance of crest-like bodies during migration of the spermatozoon and theformation of a cytoplasmic bud which contains the abortive centriole and develops to temporarily form a large lateral extension. Ultrastructure of spermiogenesis and the spermatozoon of Raillietina (Raillietina) tunetensis (Cyclophyllidea, Davaineidae), intestinal parasite of turtle doves in Senegal.
  • C. Bâ, B. Marchand
  • Biology, Medicine
  • International journal for parasitology
  • 1 April 1994
TLDR
The existence of crest-like bodies in the Davaineidae is reported for the first time and the existence of nucleus with an annular cross section has never been described in a cestode spermatozoon is reported. Expand
Ultrastructural study of the spermatozoon of Heterolebes maculosus (Digenea, Opistholebetidae), a parasite of the porcupinefish Diodon hystrix (Pisces, Teleostei).
TLDR
The similarity between the spermatozoon of the Opistholebetidae H. maculosus and Opecoelidae enables us to confirm that these two families are closely related. Expand
Ultrastructural study of the spermatozoon of Pronoprymna ventricosa (Digenea, Baccigerinae), parasite of the twaite shad Alosa fallax Lacepede (Pisces, Teleostei)
TLDR
The ultrastructural organisation of the spermatozoon of a Digenea Baccigerinae Pronoprymna ventricosa is described and a separation in two groups of the digenean spermatozoa is proposed in relation to the localisation of the external ornamentations. Expand
ULTRASTRUCTURAL STUDY OF SPERMIOGENESIS AND THE SPERMATOZOON OF CREPIDOSTOMUM METOECUS (DIGENEA: ALLOCREADIIDAE), A PARASITE OF SALMO TRUTTA (PISCES: TELEOSTEI)
TLDR
Spermiogenesis and the spermatozoon of Crepidostomum metoecus, an intestinal parasite of brown trout Salmo trutta, were studied by transmission electron microscopy, the first undertaken with a species of the Allocreadiidae. Expand
Ultrastructure of Spermiogenesis and the Spermatozoon of Mathevotaenia herpestis(Cestoda), Intestinal Parasite of Atelerix albiventrisin Senegal
Spermiogenesis in M. herpestisbegins with the formation of a differentiation zone which contains two centrioles associated with an electron–dense, finely granular material. This granular materialExpand
Ultrastructure of the spermatozoon of Sandonella sandoni (Cestoda, Proteocephalidea, Sandonellinae)
TLDR
The mature S. sandoni spermatozoon exhibits an apical cone of electron-dense material about 1 μm long and a helicoidal crest-like body 50–100 nm thick, which is of the 9+“1” pattern. Expand
Ultrastructure of spermiogenesis and the spermatozoon of Nomimoscolex sp. (Cestoda, Proteocephalidea) intestinal parasite of Clarotes laticeps (Fish, Teleost) in Senegal.
TLDR
C Crested-like bodies and striated roots linked together by an electron-dense material have never been reported during the spermiogenesis in a proteocephalidean and the existence of three crested- like bodies in the Proteocephalides is described for the first time. Expand
Comparative ultrastructure of the spermatozoa of Inermicapsifer guineensis and Inermicapsifer madagascariensis (Cestoda, Anoplocephalidae, Inermicapsiferinae), intestinal parasites of rodents in
TLDR
Spermatozoa of Inermicapsifer guineensis and Inermiapsifer madagascariensis are filiform and tapered at both extremities and the dense periaxonemal material exists in regions I to IV of the spermatozoon. Expand
Spermatozoon ultrastructure of Aponurus laguncula (Digenea: Lecithasteridae), a parasite of Aluterus monoceros (Pisces: Teleostei).
TLDR
This study is the first undertaken with a member of the Lecithasteridae and exemplifies the sperm ultrastructure for the superfamily Hemiuroidea. Expand
