Associations between fish reproductive cycle and the dynamics of metazoan parasite infection
- A. Šimková, Jirí Jarkovský, B. Koubková, V. Baruš, M. Prokeš
- BiologyParasitology Research
- 2004
The results suggest that stone loach females are more susceptible to parasite infection in periods of higher reproductive investment, probably induced by increasing fish hormone levels in the spring.
Genetic characterization of six species of diplozoids (Monogenea; Diplozoidae)
- I. Matějusová, B. Koubková, S. D’Amelio, C. O. Cunningham
- BiologyParasitology
- 1 November 2001
The second internal transcribed spacer (ITS2) of the ribosomal RNA gene array of 6 species of diplozoids, E. nipponicum was the most genetically distinct species, whereas P. bliccae and P. sapae were the species most closely related.
Troglotrema acutum (Digenea) from carnivores in the Czech Republic
- P. Koubek, V. Baruš, B. Koubková
- Biology, Environmental Science
- 2004
It was found out that neither spatial nor vertical distributions of T. acutum correspond to the present distribution of the first intermediate hosts determined so far (small prosobranchiate snails of Bythinella genus), and a hypothesis has been formulated that theFirst intermediate hosts of this trematode species may be with high probability also other species of proso branchiatesnails, whose distribution is not limited by altitude.
IDENTIFICATION OF EUROPEAN DIPLOZOIDS (MONOGENEA, DIPLOZOINAE) BY RESTRICTION DIGESTION OF THE RIBOSOMAL RNA INTERNAL TRANSCRIBED SPACER
- I. Matějusová, B. Koubková, C. O. Cunningham
- BiologyJournal of Parasitology
- 1 August 2004
Sequence comparisons and ITS2 restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) pattern of 8 European diplozoid species aimed to resolve their identification and amend the previous studies.
Metazoan parasites of the recently established tubenose goby (Proterorhinus marmoratus: Gobiidae) population from the South Moravian reservoir, Czech Republic.
- B. Koubková, V. Baruš
- Biology
- 2000
The tubenose goby is serving as definitive or paradefinitive host for four parasite species, as obligatory intermediate host of four, and as paratenic host of five helminth species.

During 1994, 129 specimens of chub from two localities, polluted--Bolelouc, 80th river kilometer, near the city of Olomouc and unpolluted--Brodské, 225th river kilometres, were examined for metazoan parasites.
