Montane refugia predict population genetic structure in the Large‐blotched Ensatina salamander
- T. Devitt, S. Devitt, B. Hollingsworth, J. McGuire, C. Moritz
- Environmental ScienceMolecular Ecology
- 1 March 2013
The genetic results provide evidence for the role of recent climatic change in shaping patterns of population persistence and connectivity within the Transverse and Peninsular Ranges, an evolutionary hotspot.
War of the Iguanas: conflicting molecular and morphological phylogenies and long-branch attraction in iguanid lizards.
- J. Wiens, B. Hollingsworth
- BiologySystematic Biology
- 2000
Parametric simulations suggest that Cyclura may be misplaced by the protein-coding genes as a result of long-branch attraction; even when Cyclura and Iguana are sister taxa in a simulated phylogeny, Cyclura is still placed as the basal member of the Iguanini by parsimony analysis in 55% of the replicates.
Pleistocene climatic fluctuations drive isolation and secondary contact in the red diamond rattlesnake (Crotalus ruber) in Baja California
- S. Harrington, B. Hollingsworth, T. Higham, T. Reeder
- Biology, Environmental Science
- 1 January 2018
This work uses restriction‐site associated DNA sequence data and a phylogeographic model selection approach to explicitly test the secondary contact hypothesis in the red diamond rattlesnake, Crotalus ruber.

A NEW SPECIES OF RAINFROG (GENUS ELEUTHERODACTYLUS) FROM THE SERRANÍA DE TABASARÁ, WEST–CENTRAL PANAMA AND REANALYSIS OF THE FITZINGERI SPECIES GROUP
- J. Savage, B. Hollingsworth, K. Lips, A. Jaslow
- Biology
- 1 December 2004
A new species of rainfrog of the Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri species group from central Panama is described by a combination of characters, including a large supraocular tubercle, barred thigh pattern, a granulate venter, marked sexual dimorphism in the tympanic membrane, and basal toe webbing.

—This annotated checklist of the world's iguanas (Iguanidae; Iguaninae) represents an update by the Iguana Taxonomy Working Group (ITWG) of its 2011 list. We recognize 44 extant species (19…

It is found that remoteness, distance to agricultural land, and elevation were the best positive predictors of Bd presence, and its presence should be regarded as an additional conservation threat to the region's native frog species.
