Allelochemicals from Stauranthus perforatus, a Rutaceous tree of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.
Aqueous leachates and a CHCl3-MeOH extract of roots of Stauranthus perforatus showed a significant phytotoxic effect on Amaranthus hypochondriacus and Echinochloa crus-galli and the decomposition of the leaves and roots in the soil had a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of weeds. Expand
Allelochemical Effects of Volatile Compounds and Organic Extracts from Muscodor yucatanensis, a Tropical Endophytic Fungus from Bursera simaruba
In general, extracts inhibited plants more than endophytic or phytopathogens fungi, and the possible allelopathic role that metabolites of M. yucatanensis play in its ecological interactions with its host plant and other organisms is discussed. Expand
Pentacyclic Triterpenes with Selective Bioactivity from Sebastiania adenophora Leaves, Euphorbiaceae
Six known pentacyclic triterpenes possessing oleanane, lupane, or taraxerane-type skeletons were isolated from the leaves of Sebastiania adenophora (Euphorbiaceae) and are reported for the first timeExpand
Allelochemical Potential of Callicarpa acuminata
All the test compounds were cytotoxic to insect Sf9 cells while (6), (4), and (1) also affected mammalian Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells, contributing to the knowledge of the defensive chemistry and added value of C. acuminata. Expand
Naphthoquinone spiroketal with allelochemical activity from the newly discovered endophytic fungus Edenia gomezpompae.
This is the first report of allelochemicals with antifungal activity from the newly discovered endophytic fungus E. gomezpompae, and the acetylated derivatives of preussomerin EG1, 1a and 1b exhibited significant bioactivity against all microorganisms tested with the exception of Alternaria solani. Effects of Allelochemical Stress Produced by Sicyos deppei on Seedling Root Ultrastructure of Phaseolus vulgaris and Cucurbita ficifolia
Scanning and electron microscope observations showed that treated roots of both P. vulgaris and C. ficifolia had ultrastructural alterations of certain organelles, the plasma membrane, and cell walls, and root cap cells of treated roots showed amorphous and inactivated nuclei, mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum. Expand
Biochemically active sesquiterpene lactones from Ratibida mexicana.
Bioactivity-directed fractionation of the methanol extract of the roots of Ratibida mexicana resulted in the isolation of two bioactive sesquiterpene lactones, isoalloalantolactone andExpand
Allelochemical Potential of Metopium brownei
The aqueous leachates, organic extracts, and the mixtures of flavonoids and urushiols were inhibitory to the growth of test plants and phytopathogenic fungi. Expand
