The resistance of aponeurosis strips taken from 40 pigs (with and without scar in the middle) was tested for stretching and force of rupture. The animals were sacrificed at 7, 15, 30 and 60 post-operative days. Specimens were taken for analysis of the collagen I and III content. In all animals were sacrificed at 7 days PO, some strips ruptured in the scar.(More)

Developing a remote laboratory is a well-described process in literature. Many examples allow the scientific community to understand the design problems faced and the solutions implemented during their development. These examples also reveal that the development process usually follows one of two approaches: a professional one or an academic one. This paper(More)
Conventional rhytidoplasty is somewhat limited in its effectiveness by the need to conceal the incisions that allow access to the affected area. A series of 35 abdominoplasties without any musculoaponeurotic plication is presented. The guidelines for patient selection and the results are described, emphasizing the importance in the evaluation of the alterations of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, and musculoaponeurotic system of the anterior abdominal wall.
Technical advances in microsurgery have made frequent use of free flaps possible. One of the concerns of the microsurgeons has been the role of ischemia in flap failure. In five patients, the rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap and the radial forearm flap each having with two dominant pedicles were used employing microsurgical vascular anastomoses before(More)
