112 patients with larynx cancer underwent ultrasonography of neck lymph nodes to asses their metastatic involvement before surgical treatment. Evaluation of the nodes was also performed by means of simple palpation. Results of palpation and ultrasonographic examination were compared in terms of efficacy in detecting and recognition of metastatic spread… (More)

The authors present a new and original method of destroying neoplastic tissues with the use of a laser light. Photodynamic therapy (PTD) requires three components: the photosensitizer, oxygen and light. This method is a promising for treatment on a many specialty including head and neck area. Advantage of PDT ist possibility several times radiation the… (More)
The p16INK4a gene, localized within chromosome 9p21, has been identified as a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor and may negatively regulate the cell cycle acting as a tumour suppressor. Genetic alterations involving the 9p21 region are common in human cancers. Our purpose was to investigate 9p21 LOH and expression of p16 protein and their possible… (More)
BACKGROUND Chronic inflammation with tissue eosinophilia plays a key role in the pathogenesis of asthma and nasal polyps in patients with aspirin hypersensitivity. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1) and intercellular adhesion molecule I (ICAM-1) and their ligands (the integrins lymphocyte function-associated… (More)
The aim of our work was the application of sonographic method of the larynx. Aloka Hellige type SSD 280 'LS was used on the examination in real time. Sonographic images of the larynx were obtained in 25 healthy human and 25 healthy children. Sonography may probe to be a potentially useful technique for the examination of the larynx.
Programmed cell death is a combined intracellular process. For the activation of apoptosis as proapoptotic genes and antiapoptotic ones are needed as well. There are several methods of apoptosis assessment but in laryngeal cancer prognostic value of apoptotic index is still unclear. 44 patients with laryngeal cancer who received surgical treatment in ENT… (More)
The aim of our work was the application of sonographic method in the diagnosis 75 patients of larynx carcinoma. Aloka Hellige type SSD 280 LS was used on the examination in real time. The sonographic images were compared with the results obtained in the indirect and direct laryngoscopy, postoperational evaluation and histopathological picture. Sonography… (More)
