Mutual Use of Trail-Following Chemical Cues by a Termite Host and Its Inquiline
It is determined that the trail-following pheromone of C. cyphergaster is made of neocembrene and (3Z,6Z,8E)-dodeca-3,6,8-trien-1-ol, and that I. microcerus shows the converse behaviour.

It is shown that (E)‐1‐nitropentadec‐ 1‐ene is synthesized by the soldiers from glycine or L‐serine and tetradecanoic acid, and three possible biosynthetic pathways are proposed.
Berbanine: A New Isoquinoline-Isoquinolone Alkaloid from Berberis Vulgaris (Berberidaceae)
A new isoquinoline-isoquinolone alkaloid was isolated from the root bark of Berberis vulgaris and named berbanine. The structure was established by spectroscopic methods (including 2D NMR, HR-EI-MS).
Chemical systematics of Neotropical termite genera with symmetrically snapping soldiers (Termitidae: Termitinae)
It is shown that the soldiers of all studied species possess a functional frontal gland, housed in part in the frontal projections on their heads, supported by fundamental differences in defensive chemicals, either arising exclusively from the lipogenic pathway or containing also the products of the isoprenoid pathway.
