Colletotrichum gloeosporioides sensu lato has been associated with anthracnose in diverse commercial crops. It is now established that C. gloeosporioides sensu lato comprises 33 phylogenetic species and C. gloeosporioides sensu stricto is not a common pathogen of tropical fruits. In this study, we investigated the phylogenetic relationships of 85… (More)
A Gram-positive, yellow-pigmented, actinobacterial strain, DW152(T), was isolated from a dairy industry effluent treatment plant. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain DW152(T) exhibited low similarity with many species with validly published names belonging to the genera Micrococcus and Arthrobacter. However, phenotypic properties including… (More)
A bacterial strain producing two antimicrobial peptides was isolated from a rhizosphere soil sample and identified as Bacillus subtilis based on both phenotypic and 16S rRNA gene sequence phylogenetic analysis. It grew optimally up to 14% NaCl and produced antimicrobial peptide within 24 h of growth. The peptides were purified using a combination of… (More)
We report the 5.1-Mb genome sequence of Xanthomonas citri pv. mangiferaeindicae strain LMG 941, the causal agent of bacterial black spot in mango. Apart from evolutionary studies, the draft genome will be a valuable resource for the epidemiological studies and quarantine of this phytopathogen.
We report the 4.98-Mb genome sequence of Marinilabilia salmonicolor JCM 21150(T), which was isolated from marine mud in the year 1961. The draft genome of strain Marinilabilia salmonicolor JCM 21150(T) contains 4,982,627 bp with a G+C content of 41.92% and 4,227 protein coding genes, 52 tRNAs, and 3 rRNAs.
We report the 3.087-Mb genome sequence of Imtechella halotolerans K1(T), isolated from an estuarine water sample collected from Kochi, Kerala, India. Strain K1 was recently reported as a novel genus of the family Flavobacteriaceae.
A novel marine, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain N9T, was isolated from a water sample of the sea shore at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (India). Strain N9T was found to be positive for oxidase and catalase activities. The fatty acids were found to be dominated by C16:0, C18:1 ω7c and summed in feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c).… (More)
The novel, cream coloured, Gram-negative-staining, rod-shaped, motile bacteria, designated strains AK23(T) and AK28, were isolated from sediment samples collected from Lonar Lake, Buldhana district, India. The predominant fatty acids were C18:1ω7c, C16:0, C10:0 3OH and C16:1ω7c and/or iso-C15:0 2OH (summed feature 3). Polar lipid content of strains AK23(T)… (More)
A Gram-stain-positive, non-motile and aerobic bacterium, designated strain DW151BT, was isolated from a sludge sample of a dairy industry effluent treatment plant. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis of strain DW151BT placed it within the genus Rhodococcus. It displayed significant similarity with recognized species of the genus: Rhodococcus pyridinivorans… (More)
BACKGROUND Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have found wide range of applications in electronics, biomedical engineering, and chemistry owing to their exceptional opto-electrical properties. Biological synthesis of gold nanoparticles by using plant extracts and microbes have received profound interest in recent times owing to their potential to produce… (More)
