BACKGROUND Gaining a better understanding of the molecular circuitries and pathways implicated in the malignant growth and biological behavior of T cell lymphomas may identify potential cellular targets with clinical therapeutic potential. The immunohistochemical characterization of key cellular proteins participating in these pathways can provide surrogate(More)
Gastritis cystica profunda (GCP) is a rare pseudotumor of the stomach characterized by benign growths of deep gastric glands through the muscularis mucosae into the submucosa. We review a case of GCP in a 61-year-old patient with GCP, with emphasis on endoscopic ultrasound findings and present review of the current literature.
BACKGROUND Hodgkin Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells may promote differentiation of CD4+ naïve T cells toward both FoxP3+ T regulatory (Treg) cells and TIA-1+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). Previous studies suggest that an overabundance of cytotoxic TIA-1+ cells in relation to FoxP3+ T reg cells portends unfavorable outcomes in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL),(More)
AIMS The utility of bone marrow aspiration and biopsy (BMAB) as a diagnostic tool in patients with HIV/AIDS and fever of unknown origin (FUO) is a subject of debate. Because highly active antiretroviral therapy has reduced incidence of opportunistic infections, it is important to reassess the efficacy of BMAB for this diagnostic purpose. To our knowledge,(More)
CONTEXT Bone marrow examination is essential for diagnosis and staging of hematologic disorders. Traditionally, the bone marrow biopsy and aspirate are obtained with 2 needles at 2 separate sites. This approach is associated with significant discomfort, procedural time, and occasionally, morbidity. Although previous observations had suggested that a(More)
We report a case of a 36-year-old man with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and an enlarging scrotal mass presumed to be of malignant origin but found to be a rare instance of verrucous herpes simplex type 2 infection of the scrotum. We also review the literature on this subject and discuss pathogenesis of the disease.
BACKGROUND Web-based synoptic reporting has been successfully integrated into diverse fields of pathology, improving efficiency and reducing typographic errors. Coagulation is a challenging field for practicing pathologists and pathologists-in-training alike. OBJECTIVE To develop a Web-based program that can expedite the generation of a individualized(More)
Primary cutaneous γδ T-cell lymphoma (PCGD TCL), an aggressive type of lymphoma, accounts for approximately 1% of all primary cutaneous lymphomas. We have occasionally observed changes in T-cell antigen expression (immunophenotypic [IP] shift) over time, a phenomenon that is considered rare in T-cell lymphoma including cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Therefore,(More)
