AIM OF THE STUDY The study was aimed to investigate the chemical composition and pharmacological basis for traditional use of essential oil of Nepeta cataria L. (Limiaceae) (Nc.Oil) in gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders. MATERIALS AND METHODS Chemical analysis was carried out through GC-EIMS, 13C NMR and Kovats Retention Indices while(More)
The alkaloid juliflorine (1) from Prosopis juliflora inhibited acetylcholinesterase (AChE, EC and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE, EC enzymes in a concentration-dependent fashion with IC50 values 0.42 and 0.12 microM, respectively. Lineweaver-Burk as well as Dixon plots and their secondary replots indicated that the nature of inhibition was(More)
Acute necrotizing esophagitis (ANE) is a rare disease typically presenting as a diffuse blackening of the esophageal mucosa with necrosis on histologic examination. For this reason, ANE is often considered to be synonymous with'black esophagus'. Recently, however, cases of ANE have been reported with a "non-black" esophagus, and this is believed to be an(More)
This study describes the chemical composition of the essential oil of Artemisia maritima (Am.Oil) and the pharmacological basis for its medicinal use in gut and airways disorders. Twenty five compounds, composing 93.7% of the oil, were identified; among these, chrysanthenyl propionate and elixene were identified for the first time from any Artemisia(More)
Five ursane type sulfated saponins have been isolated from the aerial parts of Zygophyllum fabago Linn. (locally called Chashum). The urease inhibitory effects of these compounds have been investigated for the first time as well as their molecular docking studies have also been carried out to check the structure-activity relationship. The IC50 values of(More)
The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical composition and provide a pharmacological base for the medicinal use of the essential oil of Perovskia abrotanoides (Pa.Oil) in gastrointestinal disorders, such as colic. The chemical investigation resulted in the identification of 26 compounds, of which tricyclene, beta-trans-ocimene,(More)
Phytochemical investigations of the whole plant of Stachys parviflora (Lamiaceae) resulted in the isolation of two new phenethyl alcohol glycosides. The structures of the new compounds named parviflorosides A and B were established as 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-ethyl-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 --> 2)-4-O-E-caffeoyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1) and(More)
Two new tetracyclic triterpenoid trilocularol A and trilocularol A 3-glucoside and one pentacyclic triterpenoid tirlocularoside A were isolated from Corchorus trilocularis L., their structure were elucidated as 3beta,6alpha,16alpha,20(S),27-pentahydroxydammar-24(Z)-ene (1), 3beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy-6alpha,16alpha,20(S),27-tetrahydroxydammar-24(Z)-ene (2)(More)
A case report of a young girl with salmonella osteomyelitis of left radius is presented having no constitutional symptoms. X-ray, changes are described. Curettage tissue sent for culture and histology. Histology showed non-specific osteomyelitis while salmonella was grown. She was treated accordingly and got cured with three year follow-up.
