The aim of this study was to compare the pH changes in the dental plaque after rinsing with sugared- (sucrose) or sugar-free (saccharine, cyclamate and sorbitol) versions of the same pediatric acetaminophen solution (ekosetol) up to one hour. Twenty-nine undergraduate dental students (17 girls and 12 boys) collected plaque for 48 hours by abstaining from(More)
The postoperative ultrasound pattern in 33 patients with previous surgery for unilocular hydatid disease of the liver was investigated. Each patient was submitted to liver scanning with 99mTc pertecnate, as well as to real time ultrasound examination. The patients were divided into three groups according to the type of surgery performed, namely; omentopexy,(More)
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of a digital radiograph imaging system (DDR) with conventional radiography for the purpose of estimating endodontic file lengths in curved canals of mandibular molars. STUDY DESIGN Sixty extracted human mandibular molars with root curvatures ranging from 5 degrees to 52 degrees were mounted(More)
A 56 year old patient who developed acute pancreatitis following intrabiliary rupture of a hydatic cyst of the liver is reported herein. Hepatic hydatic disease is a very rare cause of acute pancreatitis for which the surgical treatment consists of evacuation of the cyst material and biliary drainage. Cystoenteric drainage is not mandatory.
Sweet taste is a powerful factor influencing food acceptance. The peripheral taste response to sugar is mediated by the TAS1R2/TAS1R3 taste receptors. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between TAS1R2 (rs35874116 or rs9701796) and/or TAS1R3 (rs307355) single nucleotide polymorphisms with dental caries experience in schoolchildren. The aim of the study was to evaluate toothbrushing management and ability of children in relation to age and gender. The study population consisted of 75 children and were divided into three equal groups as 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11 years of age. The grip type during toothbrushing was recorded on videotape, The most preferred grip types were distal (73%) followed(More)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of sealant application in reducing microleakage of the composite resin restorations under in vivo conditions. Occlusal composite resin restorations were made in 24 caries-free primary molars which were about to exfoliate, in children aged between 10 and 13 years. Of these restorations, 12 were sealed with a(More)
AIM This in vitro study was carried out to evaluate the microhardness of enamel adjacent to a glass ionomer cement (GIC) with high fluoride content used as a sealant (Fuji Triage, GC Corp., Japan) after laser, bur or air abrasion treatment procedures. MATERIALS AND METHODS STUDY DESIGN 200 freshly extracted non-carious human molars were divided into 10(More)
AIM The aim of this in vitrostudy was to evaluate the microleakage of a glass-ionomer surface-protector cement (GC Fuji Triage) placed onto the fissure surfaces of extracted human molars prepared using six different treatment procedures. METHODS Ninety-six extracted non-carious human molar teeth were divided into five enamel treatment groups: (Gp1)(More)
