From January 1974 to May 1979, among 2,338 endoscopic examinations of the large bowel, 184 polypectomies were performed. Forty-two cases of familial polyposis coli were excluded from this study. Of the remaining 142 cases, 21 had cancer foci: fourteen were mucosally confined carcinomas, and seven submucosally invading carcinomas. Endoscopic polypectomy was(More)
Therapeutic assessment with fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) is sometimes problematic after radiation therapy. Herein we describe a patient with acute radiation-induced hepatitis in which PET showed dose-dependent FDG uptake. A 50-year-old man underwent FDG PET for staging of esophageal cancer. Chemoradiotherapy was(More)
We report herein the case of 64-year-old man with gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), who was treated by partial resection of the duodenum after preoperative transarterial embolization. He presented to our hospital with a history of tarry stools, dizziness, and severe anemia (hemoglobin, 7.5 g/dl). Gastroduodenal endoscopy revealed the presence of a(More)
A case of cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix with a large cystic lesion is reported. A 49-year-old man undergoing a routine ultrasonic scan was incidentally found to have an abdominal mass measuring some 30 cm in size. The clinical presentation was asymptomatic, and the patient underwent a laparotomy without ascertaining a diagnosis preoperatively. The(More)
We report a case of lymphomatoid papulosis (LyP) followed by Ki-1 positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (LCL). A 33-year-old man developed subcutaneous nodules in the left inguinal region and the left thigh after a seven-year-history of self-healing papulonecrotic lesions of LyP. Histological and immunohistochemical examination of the subcutaneous nodules(More)
We report a rare case of intra-abdominal fibromatosis of the jejunal mesentery. A 71-year-old man, who was incidentally diagnosed with left hydronephrosis, was found to have a tumor near the duodeno-jejunal junction. The tumor appeared to invade the intestinal wall and was obstructing the left ureter. The tumor was indefinite in diagnosis preoperatively.(More)
Multiple primary cancers including small intestinal tumors are rare. We describe the first curative resection case of metachronous triple early cancers involving the jejunum as well as the stomach and esophagus. The patient had undergone total gastrectomy for a gastric adenocarcinoma and subsequent esophagectomy for an esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. A(More)

PATIENTS AND METHODS Five patients with bilio-pancreatic liver metastasis underwent continuous hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy. One treatment course basically consisted of a 14-day infusion period during(More)
Malignant pleural effusion in the patients with breast cancer commonly occurs, and is a life-threatening factor. The present paper shows the usefulness of intrapleural administration of CDDP in six cases. A decrease of pleural effusions was observed in all cases. Treatment was effective in two cases of CR and four cases of PR. A median survival from(More)
