Investigation of wild pigeons in four parts of the Lahijan city, Northern area of Iran showed that incidence the rate of parasitic infections in Columba livia was high, and advises to more studies in this background.

The present research is the first report of A. phagocytophilum infection in Iranian domesticated small ruminants and their zoonotic potential as a carrier of the Anaplasma species infection.
