Useful medicinal tree species of Ethiopia: Comprehensive review
Pre-dispersal seed predation of Faidherbia albida in the Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia
TLDR
Predation and subsequent fungal infestation had reduced the seed viability and performance of seed germination among infested seeds, and these predators have practical implications because of their negative contribution to the regeneration of F. albida trees across growing regions.

TLDR
A literature review on medicinal plants used to treat snakebites in Ethiopia revealed the presence of 184 plant species distributed among 67 families cited for treating snakebite in Ethiopia, with Fabaceae was the most predominant family with the greatest number of species.
Parasitic plant in natural Boswellia papyrifera stands at Humera, Northern Ethiopia
TLDR
Management of natural stands for frankincense production should include measures to reduce infection by T. globiferus parasitism on growth of Boswellia trees and its influence on yield of incense production needs further investigation.
First report of Paradecatoma bannensis Masi (Hymenoptera, Eurytomidae) as seed parasite of Cordia africana in Ethiopia
TLDR
Investigation of the cause of pyrene deterioration of C. africana in Ethiopia found Paradecatoma bannensis has emerged from de-pulped drupes and this wasp was reported for the first time on the pyrenes/drupes.
First Report of Acanthoscelides macrophthalmus (Schaeffer) on Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de wit in Ethiopia and a Preliminary Investigation into Its Impacts
TLDR
A preliminary assessment of the impact of a pre-dispersal seed feeding bruchid associated with L. leucocephala on seed germination in Ethiopia found that damaged seeds showed reduced germination performance resulting in seedlings with weak, yellow and fragile root systems compared to healthy seeds.
First record of Glycaspis brimblecombei Moore (hem.: Psyllidae) on Eucalyptus camaldulensis in Ethiopia
TLDR
The situation strongly urges the country to introduce and employ biological control agents against this threat to the plantations of E. camaldulensis in Ethiopia in order to avoid substantial economic losses to Eucalyptus growers in the country.
Morphological characterization of fungal disease on tapped Boswellia papyrifera trees in metema and Humera districts, northern Ethiopia
TLDR
Based on the morphological characteristics of the colony and the spore, the fungus isolated from symptomatic trees, is tentatively identified as Lasiodiplodia theobromae.
Predispersal seed predation on three Vachellia species and one Senegalia species (Fabaceae: Mimosoideae) in the Rift Valley of Ethiopia and Menagesha forest, Ethiopia
  • A. Yirgu
  • Environmental Science
  • 1 June 2016
TLDR
This study provides unrecorded lists of predispersal seed predators associated with seeds of Vachellia and Senegalia species in Ethiopia, and some associations are new.
