Abstract Translation algebras of finitely generated * -algebras of bounded linear operators on a separable Hilbert space are introduced. Two equivalent forms of amenability for finitely generated *… (More)
Abstract The aim of this work is to study the existence of free *-subalgebras in C*-algebras. The Kurosh–Levitzky Problem and related conjectures of Makar-Limanov are answered in the context of… (More)
We introduce the notion of ends for algebras. The definition is analogous to the one in geometric group theory. We establish some relations to growth conditions and cyclic cohomology.
We generalize Gromov's quasi-isometric technique for finitely generated algebras.
A description of algebras of linear growth is given. This leads to a new invariant which is similar to the number of ends of a group. This note is a further step in developing of a geometric study of… (More)
