- Chemistry, MedicineThe Journal of biological chemistry
- 25 December 1986
Although DES quinone could not be detected in the incubation of DES, microsomes, and NADPH as cofactor, the intermediacy of the quin one is demonstrated by the formation of (Z,Z)-dienestrol, the marker product for oxidation.
Antibacterial activity studies of flavonoids from Salvia palaestina.
- M. Miski, A. Ulubelen, C. Johansson, T. Mabry
- Biology, MedicineJournal of natural products
- 1 November 1983
Ten aglycones and six glycosides of luteolin and apigenin were identified from the leaves of Salvia palaestina Bentham (Labiatae). Among them cirsimaritin showed a high activity against…
A new flavone from antioxidant extracts of Pistacia terebinthus
Acetone and methanol extracts of the fruits of Pistacia terebinthus L. subsp. terebinthus L. were studied for their antioxidant activity by investigating their total phenolic and flavonoid contents,…
Antibacterial diterpenes from the roots of Salvia viridis.
- A. Ulubelen, S. Oksüz, U. Kolak, C. Bozok-johansson, C. Celik, W. Voelter
- Biology, MedicinePlanta medica
- 1 June 2000
Three new diterpenes, salvivirid inol, viridinol, Viridone, and sugiol were isolated from the roots of Salvia viridis by NMR spectroscopic techniques and showed activity against S. aureus, S. subtilis and P. mirabilis.
Terpenoids from Salvia sclarea.
2,3-Dehydrosalvipisone, sclareol, manool, 7-oxoroyleanone, spathulenol and caryophyllene oxide were found to be active against Staphylococcus aureus, the first and third compound against Candida albicans and the last compound against Proteus mirabilis.
Abietane diterpenoids and triterpenoic acids from Salvia cilicica and their antileishmanial activities.
The new abietane derivatives showed appreciable in vitro antileishmanial activity against intracellular amastigote forms of both Leishmania donovani and Leishmannia major and the triterpenoic acids were found to be potently active against amastIGote stages of the two LeishMania species.
Cardioactive and antibacterial terpenoids from some Salvia species.
- A. Ulubelen
- Biology, MedicinePhytochemistry
- 1 September 2003
Seven Salvia species were investigated recently for their chemical and biological activities and a number of new diterpenoids were obtained and their structures were established through extensive spectral analysis.
Cytotoxic Activity of Some Anatolian Salvia. Extracts and Isolated Abietane Diterpenoids
Salvia hypargeia root extract, among 16 Salvia extracts, showed the highest activity against the human ovarian cancer cell line and the fatty acid composition was the most active part of the extract.
Insect Repellent Activity of Diterpenoid Alkaloids
- A. Ulubelen, A. H. Meriçli, +4 authors S. Pelletier
- Biology, MedicinePhytotherapy research : PTR
- 1 March 2001
Of 29 tested alkaloids, 21 compounds showed promising insect repellent activity, while eight were not found to be active and the highest activity was found in hetisine, a diterpene alkaloid (59.37%) and the lowest activity in another diterpenoid venulol (31.25%).
Antioxidant activity tests on novel triterpenoids from Salvia macrochlamys
The methanol extract of Salvia macrochlamys Boiss. and Kotschy was fractionated on a silica gel column to yield a group of terpenic compounds. After separation and cleaning, seven known and three new…
