The chigger mite genus Leptotrombidium Nagayo, Miyagawa, Mitamura and Imamura, 1916 is reviewed using literature data. For 340 larval species brief diagnoses, synonymy, data on type hosts and type…
A review of Chilean chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of a new genus and ten new species.
The genus Morelacarus Vercammen-Grandjean, 1973 previously known from Mexico and southwestern USA is for the first time recorded in Chile, and the genus Proschoengastia antarctica sp.
To the fauna of chigger mites (Acari: Trombiculidae) parasitize bats in Cuba
One species, M. boneti (Hoffmann, 1952) is recorded for the first time in Cuba and on several new host genera and species.
CHIGGER MITES (ACARI: TROMBICULIDAE) OF TURKEY
In total, 43 species from 14 genera parasitizing rodents, soricomorphs, and reptiles in Turkey are considered, 37 of which are identified exactly, and four new synonyms and 18 new combinations were established.

- 25 August 2010
The role of the Eastern Hindu Kush main ridge as a border between different chigger faunas is demonstrated, and Eco-geographical variability is observed in Shunsennia oudemansi.
A revision of the chigger mite genus Paratrombicula Goff & Whitaker, 1984 (Acari: Trombiculidae), with the description of two new species
The monotypic chigger mite genus Paratrombicula Goff & Whitaker, 1984 is expanded to include five species. Two new species of chiggers, parasitising iguanid lizards in Chile, Paratrombicula chilensis…

Chigger mites of the African continent are reviewed using data acquired from the literature and examination of the collections deposited at the Royal Museum for Central Africa (Tervuren, Belgium) and…
Autofluorescence microscopy for paired-matched morphological and molecular identification of individual chigger mites (Acari: Trombiculidae), the vectors of scrub typhus
A novel work flow based on autofluorescence microscopy was developed to enable identification of trombiculid mites to the species level on the basis of morphological traits without any special preparation, while preserving the mite DNA for subsequent genotyping.
Ecological and microbiological diversity of chigger mites, including vectors of scrub typhus, on small mammals across stratified habitats in Thailand
This first extensive field survey of the chigger microbiome revealed species- and province-level variation in microbial β-diversity across the country, providing a framework for future studies on interactions between pathogens and other symbionts in these understudied vectors.
