Phylogeography and monophyly of the swordtail fish species Xiphophorus birchmanni (Cyprinodontiformes, Poeciliidae)
- C. Gutiérrez-Rodríguez, A. Shearer, M. Morris, K. de Queiroz
- Biology
- 1 March 2008
Monophyly of X. birchmanni is strongly supported while the previous hypothesis of the evolutionary origin of this species from X. malinche is not, and low levels of polymorphism among aligned sequences and low Levels of genetic variation within populations but high levels of genetic differentiation among populations are found.
Genetic–epigenetic interactions in cis: a major focus in the post-GWAS era
- Catherine Do, A. Shearer, B. Tycko
- BiologyGenome Biology
- 19 June 2017
Studies on genetic–epigenetic interactions, including the mapping of methylation quantitative trait loci (mQTLs) and haplotype-dependent allele-specific DNA methylation (hap-ASM), have become a major…
Comparative analysis of food-finding behavior of an herbivorous and a carnivorous land snail
- A. Shearer, J. W. Atkinson
- Environmental Science
- 1 September 2001
The herbivore, Anguispira alternata, and the carnivore are challenged to find a stationary food source under identical still air conditions and it is revealed that H. concavum readily follows prey slime trails while A. alternata seldom follows conspecific slime trails when a distant food source is available.
Phylogenetic relationships among taxa in the Jahnulales inferred from 18 S and 28 S nuclear ribosomal DNA sequences
- Jinx Campbell, A. Ferrer, H. Raja, S. Sivichai, Carol, A. Shearer
- Biology
- 2007
A molecular study was carried out using 18S and 28S rDNA sequence data from 15 species representing the four genera in the Jahnulales to clarify generic boundaries and phylogenetic relationships and to assess the taxonomic significance of various morphological characters.

- Chemistry, BiologyDefense + Commercial Sensing
- 29 April 2010
Upconverting phosphors to detect explosives using antibodies specific to TNT are conjugated to the surface to bind a quencher and accept TNT.
