This study improved the knowledge on the distribution, autecology, phylogenetic position, and bio-organic characteristics of W. prolifica, and confirmed that polyphasic studies of cyanobacteria are not only an important prerequisite for species delineation, but are also useful in characterizing ecophysiological adaptive mechanisms to special habitats.
Antifungal Potential of the Bioactive Constituents in Extracts of the Mostly Untapped Brown Seaweed Hormophysa cuneiformis from The Egyptian Coastal Waters
The findings showed that the chloroform extract only exhibited a potential antifungal activity against all tested fungal isolates, particularly T. asahii, C. fumigatus and C. herbarum, while the other extracts had relatively no remarkable effects.
