Cestodes in South American freshwater teleost fishes: keys to genera and brief description of species
- A. Rego, J. C. Chubb, G. C. Pavanelli
- Biology
- 1 June 1999
Keys to genera of cestodes in South American freshwater teleost fishes are provided, with diagnoses of genera and short descriptions of species. Two new genera are proposed, Chambriella gen.n. for…
Preliminary phylogenetic analysis of subfamilies of the Proteocephalidea (Eucestoda)
- A. Rego, A. de Chambrier, M. Zehnder
- BiologySystematic Parasitology
- 1 May 1998
Analysis of parasite-host relationships indicated that the basal hosts for the Proteocephalidea are equivocal; siluriform teleosts were, however, the basalhosts for the Nupeliinae + the Monticelliidae and Proteecephalidae subclades and an extensive co-evolutionary history with this host group is postulated.
Mariauxiella pimelodi n. g., n. sp. (Cestoda: Monticelliidae): a parasite of pimelodid siluroid fishes from South America
- A. Chambrier, A. Rego
- BiologySystematic Parasitology
- 2004
Mariauxiella pimelodi n. g., n. sp. (Cestoda, Monticelliidae, Othinoscolecinae) is described from the South American siluriform fishes Pimelodus ornatus and Pimelodus sp. caught in Brazil and…
Reassessments and revisions of certain genera and species of the family Sebekidae (Pentastomida) including description of Sebekia microhamus n. sp.
Reassessment is made of certain genera and species of the Sebekidae, utilizing recently developed criteria to define them more clearly, and the ‘gemminate’ hooks of Pentastomum gracile are redescribed as being typical of those in nymphal Sebek Families.
Proteocephalidea from Amazonian Freshwater Fishes: New Systematic Arrangement for the Species Described by Woodland as ANTHOBOTHRIUM (Tetraphyllidea)
- A. Rego
- Biology
- 1984
The, taxonomic status of the Brazilian species Anthobothrium pristis, A. piramutab, and A. karuatayi has been reappraised and the others, from siluroid teleosts, are transferred to Proteocephalidea.
The histopathology of Scomber japonicus infection by Nematobothrium scombri (Trematoda:Didymozoidae) and of larval anisakid nematode infections in the liver of Pagrus pagrus.
The histopathology induced by Nematobothrium scombri (Trematoda) in Scomber japonicus and of larval anisakid nematodes in Pagrus pagrus is described. Nematodes larvae occurred within the liver…
Scolex Morphology of Proteocephalid Cestodes Parasites of Neotropical Freshwater Fishes
- A. Rego
- Biology
- 1999
The morphology of the scolices and metascolices of 29 proteocephalid species, parasites of freshwater fishes from Brazil was compared by using scanning electron microscope, light and laser…
A new classification of the Cestode order Proteocephalidea Mola
- A. Rego
- Biology
- 1995
The actual scheme of taxonomy of WOODLAND (1924-1935) is criticicized and a new classification for the group is proposed, and the phylogenetic uniformity of Proteocephalideans is reestablished.
