Genetically enhanced cows resist intramammary Staphylococcus aureus infection
The results indicate that genetic engineering can provide a viable tool for enhancing resistance to disease and improve the well-being of livestock with as little as 3 mg/ml of lysostaphin in milk.

- A. Powell, N. Talbot, K. Wells, D. Kerr, V. Pursel, R. Wall
- BiologyBiology of Reproduction
- 1 July 2004
It is concluded that a significant component in determining somatic cell nuclear transfer success is the source of the nuclear donor cells.
Alkaline phosphatase staining of pig and sheep epiblast cells in culture
- N. Talbot, C. Rexroad, V. Pursel, A. Powell
- BiologyMolecular Reproduction and Development
- 1 October 1993
Pig and sheep epiblast cells tested for the presence of alkaline phosphatase (AP), a biochemical marker characteristic of mouse embryonic stem cells, were positive for AP staining both at isolation from the blastocyst and after primary in vitro culture.
Chimeric Phage Lysins Act Synergistically with Lysostaphin To Kill Mastitis-Causing Staphylococcus aureus in Murine Mammary Glands
- M. Schmelcher, A. Powell, S. C. Becker, M. Camp, D. Donovan
- Biology, MedicineApplied and Environmental Microbiology
- 27 January 2012
The animal model results demonstrate the potential of fusion peptidoglycan hydrolases as antimicrobials for the treatment of S. aureus-induced mastitis.
Chromosome numbers in Compositae. XVIII.
- G. D. Carr, R. M. King, A. Powell, H. Robinson
- BiologyAmerican-Eurasian journal of botany
- 1 July 1999
New chromosome numbers are established at the generic level in Acourtia, Calea, Craspedia, Gnaphalium, Helipterum, Liabum, Leucheria, Smallanthus, Trixis, and Viguiera and at the specific level in 13 additional species.
CHROMOSOME NUMBERS IN THE COMPOSITAE.
- A. Tomb, K. L. Chambers, D. W. Kyhos, A. Powell, P. Raven
- Biology
- 1978
Reports of 150 original chromosome counts are recorded, including reports of 22 genera and 57 species and subspecific taxa in tribe Lactuceae, where x = 9 appears to be the ancestral base of the tribe.

First published by the Big Bend Natural History Association in 1988 as Trees & Shrubs of Trans-Pecos Texas, this book is the only keyed guide to the more than 400 species of woody plants native to…
Triple-acting Lytic Enzyme Treatment of Drug-Resistant and Intracellular Staphylococcus aureus
- S. C. Becker, Dwayne R. Roach, D. Donovan
- BiologyScientific Reports
- 28 April 2016
E engineered triple-acting staphylolytic peptidoglycan hydrolases wherein three unique antimicrobial activities from two parental proteins are combined into a single fusion protein effectively reduces the incidence of resistant strain development.
