Ethnobotanical survey of herbal remedies traditionally used in Kohghiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad province of Iran.
Cytotoxic effects of selective species of Caryophyllaceae in Iran
Seven species from Caryophyllaceae investigated against MCF-7, HepG-2, A-549, HT-29 and MDBK cells exhibited cytotoxic effects with IC50 values < 100 μg/mL, suggesting them as suitable candidates for more investigations of breast cancer studies.
Molecular phylogeny of Acanthophyllum (Caryophyllaceae: Caryophylleae), with emphasis on infrageneric classification
This analysis suggests that Allochrusa, Diaphanoptera, Ochotonophila and Scleranthopsis are nested within Acanthophyllum but that the traditionally recognized sections of Acanthophllum are monophyletic after reassignment of a few species.
Untangling phylogenetic patterns and taxonomic confusion in tribe Caryophylleae (Caryophyllaceae) with special focus on generic boundaries
The main goal of the present study was to re-assess the monophyly of the genera currently recognized in this tribe using molecular phylogenetic data and propose a new classification system matching both molecular phylogenetics and morphological evidence.
Spine anatomy and its systematic application in Astragalus sect. Rhacophorus s. L. (Fabaceae) in Iran
Vicia variabilis a Nutritive Feed for Domesticated Animals: A Survey about Cytotoxic and Antioxidant Activity
The results not only show no cytotoxic activity in 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,4-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay but also admit the antioxidant activity of the species through scavenging of 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radicals confirmed in DPPH assay.
Cytotoxic sesquiterpene lactones from the aerial parts of Inula aucheriana.
The cytot toxic activity of the two evaluated sesquiterpene lactones partly explains the cytotoxic activity that was previously observed for the extracts of Inula aucheriana.
Cytotoxic Activity of Some Medicinal Plants from Hamedan District of Iran
- S. Behzad, A. Pirani, M. Mosaddegh
- Biology, MedicineIranian journal of pharmaceutical research : IJPR
For some of the plants, their traditional use was correlated with the cytotoxic results, whereas for others the results may support the non-cytotoxicity of species used traditionally as natural remedies.
Ethnomedical Survey and Cytotoxic Activity of Medicinal Plant Extracts Used in Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad Province in Iran
Methanol extracts of selected medicinal species used in Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad (Iran) were evaluated in vitro and may support the non-cytotoxicity of most plant species used traditionally as natural remedies.
A new species of Acanthophyllum (Caryophyllaceae) from Iran
The new species Acanthophyllum yasamin-nassehiae (Caryophyllaceae) from North Khorassan province (north-eastern Iran) is here described and illustrated. It belongs to the sect. Oligosperma, and it is…
