- E. M. Vilela, J. Bastos, Natália Fernandes, A. P. Ferreira, A. Chaoubah, M. Bastos
- MedicineClinics

By inducing a decline in the systemic inflammatory response and a decrease in serum prohepcidin, successful periodontal treatment may represent an important means of ameliorating the inflammatory burden seen in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Increased IgG1, IFN-gamma, TNF-alpha and IL-6 responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens in patients with tuberculosis are lower after chemotherapy.

Levels of serum IgG antibodies against ESAT-6, CFP-10 and 16 kDa antigens indicate that a T(h)1 phenotype against early phase Mtb antIGens appears to be dominant in the peripheral blood of patients with active pulmonary TB that is reduced after chemotherapy.

Human serum antibody reactivity towards Paracoccidioides brasiliensis antigens treated with sodium metaperiodate.
- A. P. Ferreira, T. Côrrea, H. C. Teixeira
- Biology, MedicineRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina…

The results suggest that modifications to the epitopes of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis antigens may help to improve the immunodiagnosis of paracoccIDioidomycosis.
Th2 Responses in OVA-Sensitized BALB/c Mice Are Down-Modulated By Mycobacterium bovis BCG Treatment
- A. C. C. Gouveia, A. Brugiolo, A. P. Ferreira
- BiologyJournal of Clinical Immunology
- 4 August 2012
The results suggest that the mechanism underlying the down-regulatory effects of BCG on OVA-induced airway inflammation appear to be associated with the induction of both Th1 and T regulatory immune responses.
Influence of salivary secretory immunoglobulin A level on the pain experienced by orthodontic patients.

There was a trend toward a negative correlation of oral pain intensity and salivary sIgA levels in the children, which may indicate the importance of sIGA for oral protection during orthodontic treatment, interfering with the pain experienced by the patients.

The presence of intestinal helminths can down-regulate the immune response required to control mycobacterial infection and render coinfected individuals more susceptible to the development of TB.
Obesity affects peripheral lymphoid organs immune response in murine asthma model

Modifications to the main components of the germinal centers could be resulting in the increased IgG2a production, which – associated with the Th17/neutrophilic profile – contributes to asthma worsening and represents an important target for future treatment strategies.
