A secondary structural model of the 28S rRNA expansion segments D2 and D3 for Chalcidoid wasps (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea).
An annotated secondary structural model for the D2, D3 expansion segments of the 28S ribosomal (rRNA)-encoding gene region will prove useful in assigning positional nucleotide homology for phylogeny reconstruction in these and closely related apocritan taxa.
A Demonstration of a Retrofit Architecture for Intelligent Control and Diagnostics of a Turbofan Engine
In the flight simulator it was demonstrated that when degradation is introduced into an engine with standard fan speed control, the pilot needs to take corrective action to maintain heading and the engine thrust is automatically adjusted to its expected value, eliminating yaw without pilot intervention.
Description and behavioural biology of two Ufens species (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae), egg parasitoids of Homalodisca species (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) in southern California
Ufens principalis exhibited rapid and long-distance response in the form of directional flight toward freshly laid eggs of Homalodisca species, its primary hosts in southern California, and the distribution of ovipositor probe durations showed that most probes were generally of very short duration.
A molecular phylogeny of the Trichogrammatidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea), with an evaluation of the utility of their male genitalia for higher level classification
The molecular results suggest that Trichogrammatidae primitively parasitized Coleoptera, with more recent radiations onto other insect orders, such as Lepidoptera and Hemiptera, while the structure of the male genitalia does correspond with relative taxon position in the molecular hypotheses.
An NPSS Model of a Proposed Altitude Test Facility
An altitude test facility was modeled using Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS). This altitude test facility model was developed to explore the capabilities of NPSS for modeling this type
Dynamic Modeling of Starting Aerodynamics and Stage Matching in an Axi-Centrifugal Compressor
Abstract : A Dynamic Turbine Engine Compressor Code (DYNTECC) has been modified to model speed transients from 0-100% of compressor design speed. The impetus for this enhancement was to investigate
Piloted Simulation Evaluation of a Model-Predictive Automatic Recovery System to Prevent Vehicle Loss of Control on Approach
Piloted flight simulator evaluation showed the model-predictive automatic recovery system to provide effective envelope protection during extremely unsafe landing attempts and demonstrate how flight and propulsion control can be integrated to recover control of the vehicle automatically and prevent a potential catastrophe.
Validation of an Integrated Airframe and Turbofan Engine Simulation for Evaluation of Propulsion Control Modes
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has developed independent airframe and engine models that have been integrated into a single real-time aircraft simulation for piloted
Experimental and Analytical Performance of a Dual Brayton Power Conversion System
The interactions between two closed Brayton cycle (CBC) power conversion units (PCU) which share a common gas inventory and heat source have been studied experimentally using t he Dual Br ayton P
