Alterations in the alpha2 isoform of Na,K-ATPase associated with familial hemiplegic migraine type 2.
Analysis of the structural changes effected by T345A, R689Q, and M731T mutations, based on homologous replacements in the known crystal structure of the sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca-ATPase, provides insights into the molecular bases for the kinetic alterations.
Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase-dependent iron reduction and LDL oxidation--a potential mechanism in atherosclerosis.
Biochemical and histochemical correlates indicate that gamma-GT can promote LDL oxidation by hydrolyzing GSH into more potent iron reductants, and may provide mechanistic clues to the epidemiologic evidence for a possible correlation between persistent elevation of Gamma-GT and the risk of fatal reinfarction in patients with ischemic heart disease.
