The results indicate that the devices tested cannot be simply used interchangeably and one specific instrument is recommended for long-term patient follow-up, and recently developed pachymetry machines are especially helpful when additional corneal data are required.

The theoretical approach using geometrical optics may be an additional indicator for the accommodative response in patients with pseudophakic eyes and may allow a subdivision of the measured accommodation into true pseudophAKic accommodation and pseudoaccommodation.

It is found that after PRK, mean measured keratometry readings were significantly greater than respective calculated values considering the preoperative to postoperative change of anterior corneal surface, and IOL power underestimation correlated significantly with the difference between preoperative and postoperative spherical equivalent refraction.

A clinical step-by-step approach to minimize IOL power miscalculations status after corneal refractive surgery is suggested and the "clinical history method" should be applied whenever refraction and K-reading before the keratorefractive procedure are available to cataract surgeons.
