Flavor symmetry and the static potential with hypercubic blocking

The static potential measured on HYP smeared lattices agrees with the thin link potential at distances $r/ag~2$ and has greatly reduced statistical errors and will be used in forthcoming dynamical simulations of HYP staggered fermions.
Conformal or walking? Monte Carlo renormalization group studies of SU(3) gauge models with fundamental fermions
- A. Hasenfratz
- Physics
- 7 April 2010
Strongly coupled gauge systems with many fermions are important in many phenomenological models. I use the 2-lattice matching Monte Carlo renormalization group method to study the fixed point…
Investigating the critical properties of beyond-QCD theories using Monte Carlo renormalization group matching
- A. Hasenfratz
- Physics
- 6 July 2009
Monte Carlo renormalization group (MCRG) methods were designed to study the nonperturbative phase structure and critical behavior of statistical systems and quantum field theories. I adopt the…
Hypercubic smeared links for dynamical fermions
- A. Hasenfratz, R. Hoffmann, S. Schaefer
- Physics
- 28 February 2007
We investigate a variant of hypercubic gauge link smearing where the SU(3) projection is replaced with a normalization to the corresponding unitary group. This smearing is differentiable and thus…
Improving the continuum limit of gradient flow step scaling

- Physics, Geology
- 3 April 2014
A bstractWe introduce a non-perturbative improvement for the renormalization group step scaling function based on the gradient flow running coupling, which may be applied to any lattice gauge theory…
Testing Fermion Universality at a Conformal Fixed Point
- A. Hasenfratz, C. Rebbi, O. Witzel
- Physics
- 10 August 2017
Universality of various fermion formulations is well established in QCD-like theories defined around the perturbative g 2 = 0 fixed point. These arguments do not apply for conformal systems that…
Strongly interacting dynamics and the search for new physics at the LHC
- T. Appelquist, R. Brower, O. Witzel
- Physics
- 15 January 2016
We present results for the spectrum of a strongly interacting SU(3) gauge theory with Nf = 8 light fermions in the fundamental representation. Carrying out nonperturbative lattice calculations at the…
Nonperturbative investigations of SU(3) gauge theory with eight dynamical flavors
- L. Appelquist, R. Brower, O. Witzel
- PhysicsPhysical Review D
- 23 July 2018
We present our lattice studies of SU(3) gauge theory with ${N}_{f}=8$ degenerate fermions in the fundamental representation. Using nHYP-smeared staggered fermions we study finite-temperature…
Nonperturbative Renormalization of Operators in Near-Conformal Systems Using Gradient Flows.
- A. Carosso, A. Hasenfratz, E. Neil
- PhysicsPhysical Review Letters
- 4 June 2018
We propose a continuous real space renormalization group transformation based on gradient flow, allowing for a numerical study of renormalization without the need for costly ensemble matching. We…
