Production, purification, and characterization of botulinolysin, a thiol-activated hemolysin of Clostridium botulinum
The purified hemolysin had a lethal effect in mice and was cytotoxic for some cultured cells: its 50% lethal dose in mice was 310 ng, and the 50% cytot toxic dose for Vero cells was 120 ng/ml.
Studies on the Effect of the Extract and Constituents of Nerium Oleander Leaves on the Central Nervous System of Mice.
The results showed that fractions of the leaves extract induced sedation at low dose and hypnosis at high doses which was an evidence of their effect on the CNS, and indicated that the fractions act by altering the GABA ergic system in the CNS.
