Examination of the type material and description ofTheridion zonulatum Thorell 1890 shows that this name is a senior synonym of Theridion zebrinusum Zhu 1998, which is widely distributed in Southeast Asia, with records from Brunei, Singapore, peninsular Malaysia and Thailand.

This work reports that both of these species have very close relationships to similarly uncommon species originally described from France at about the same time, expanding the range of this species considerably to the East and confirming that it is a genuine European species, rather than a recent immigrant from North America as previously suspected.

A new species from the Philippine island of Panay is described based on genital characters of a male and female specimen, Gambaquezonia curioi, distinguished by the shape and structure of the male embolus and tibial apophysis, and the epigynal sperm duct.
