Biotransformation of oleanolic and maslinic acids by Rhizomucor miehei.
Microbial Transformation of Triterpenoids
Antioxidant activity of maslinic acid, a triterpene derivative obtained from Olea europaea.
Endogenous plasma lipoperoxide levels and susceptibility to LPO were decreased in rats treated with maslinic acid, after exposure to OH* by Fe2+/H2O2 (Fenton reaction).
Enzymatic glycosylation of terpenoids

Enzymatic glycosylation of terpenoids is a useful tool due to the high selectivity and the mildness of the reaction conditions, in comparison with chemical methods.
Isolation of an Anti-Hepatotoxic Principle from the Juice of Ecballium elaterium
Pre- and posttreatment with elaterium and cucurbitacin B reduced CCl 4 -induced hepatotoxicity, as shown by the reduction in the anormally increased sGPT levels.
Maslinic acid derivatives induce significant apoptosis in b16f10 murine melanoma cells.
Assessment of the safety of maslinic acid, a bioactive compound from Olea europaea L.

The results obtained from the acute and the repeated intake of maslinic acid indicate that the compound does not exert any adverse effects on the variables tested in mice, thus suggesting a sufficient margin of safety for its putative use as a nutraceutical.
Remote hydroxylation of methyl groups by regioselective cyclopalladation. Partial synthesis of hyptatic acid-A.
- A. García-Granados, P. López, E. Melguizo, A. Parra, Y. Simeó
- Chemistry, BiologyThe Journal of organic chemistry
- 3 April 2007
Hyptatic acid-A (32), a 2alpha,3beta,24-trihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid, previously isolated from Hyptis capitata, was obtained from maslinic acid (2). The regioselective cyclopalladation of the…
Parasitostatic effect of maslinic acid. I. Growth arrest of Plasmodium falciparum intraerythrocytic stages
- Carlos Moneriz, P. Marín-García, A. García-Granados, J. Bautista, A. Díez, A. Puyet
- Medicine, BiologyMalaria Journal
- 10 April 2011
The results indicate that MA has a parasitostatic effect, which does not inactivate permanently P. falciparum, and may be relevant to uncover new prospective plasmodial targets and opens novel possibilities of therapies associated to host immune response.
