A simple method for efficiently establishing 8-azaguanine-resistant mutant human leukemia and myeloma cell lines.
A simple and convenient method for efficiently establishing 8-azaguanine-resistant mutant leukemia and myeloma cell lines (for example, the T cell lines Jurkat and CCRF-CEM, humanExpand
Candida granuloma. Studies of host-parasite relationships.
The concept of specific immunologic unresponsiveness is proposed to explain the patient's extreme susceptibility to the development of infection with Calbicans. Expand
Intraperitoneal actinomycosis in a cat
This short communication describes the clinical and pathological findings of an intraperitoneal granuloma due to Actinomyces naeslundii in a cat referred to the Fujiwara Veterinary Clinic with signs of anorexia and vomiting. Expand
Preliminary characterization of the hemolysin of Rhizopus nigricans
The cumulative findings suggest that the active hemolytic substance is a lipid perhaps attached to a protein in Rhizopus nigricans cultured for two weeks in modified Sabouraud broth. Expand
Hemolytic activity of Rhizopus nigricans and Rhizopus arrhizus
The culture filtrates exhibited little hemolytic activity but all fungous mat extracts produced hemolysis of sheep, rabbit, guinea pig and human erythrocytes. Expand
Responses of thymectomized and-or bursectomized chickens to sensitization with Candida albicans.
White Leghorn chickens, subjected to burscctomy, thymectomy, or both procedures within 48 hr of hatching, were sensitized to Candida albicans beginning at 6 weeks and 14 weeks later, finding that depressed the development of Candida agglutinins and precipitins and delayed hypersensitivity as measured by the wattle test. Stimulatory release of hepatic lipase activity from rat hepatocytes by ruthenium red.
The results suggest that RuR stimulates the release of HTGL activity through mechanisms of action involving TK- and PKA-activating pathways, which require a metabolic energy-sensitive process rather than elevation of enzyme molecule synthesis. Expand
The relationship of common saprophytic and pathogenic fungi to the Forssman and other antigens of the sheep erythrocyte
Culture filtrates and mats from 20 different species of fungi cultured on Sabouraud dextrose broth and asparagine synthetic medium were examined for the presence of Forssman activity utilizing a hemolysis inhibition test, and the importance of the sheep erythrocyte as a heterogenetic antigen is discussed.
