Simulations of the formation, evolution and clustering of galaxies and quasars
- V. Springel, S. White, F. Pearce
- PhysicsNature
- 2 June 2005
It is shown that baryon-induced features in the initial conditions of the Universe are reflected in distorted form in the low-redshift galaxy distribution, an effect that can be used to constrain the nature of dark energy with future generations of observational surveys of galaxies.
The mass function of dark matter haloes
- A. Jenkins, C. Frenk, N. Yoshida
- Physics
- 12 May 2000
We combine data from a number of N-body simulations to predict the abundance of dark haloes in cold dark matter (CDM) universes over more than four orders of magnitude in mass. A comparison of…
A MaxBCG Catalog of 13,823 Galaxy Clusters from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
- B. Koester, T. Mckay, D. York
- Physics
- 9 January 2007
We present a catalog of galaxy clusters selected using the maxBCG red-sequence method from Sloan Digital Sky Survey photometric data. This catalog includes 13,823 clusters with velocity dispersions…
Properties of the Intracluster Medium in an Ensemble of Nearby Galaxy Clusters
- J. Mohr, B. Mathiesen, A. Evrard
- Physics
- 20 January 1999
We present a systematic analysis of the intracluster medium (ICM) in an X-ray flux limited sample of 45 galaxy clusters. Using archival ROSAT Position-Sensitive Proportional Counter (PSPC) data and…
The LX—T relation and intracluster gas fractions of X-ray clusters
We re-examine the X-ray luminosity–temperature relation using a nearly homogeneous data set of 24 clusters selected for statistically accurate temperature measurements and absence of strong cooling…
The baryon content of galaxy clusters: a challenge to cosmological orthodoxy
- S. White, J. Navarro, A. Evrard, C. Frenk
- PhysicsNature
- 29 November 1993
Baryonic matter constitutes a larger fraction of the total mass of rich galaxy clusters than is predicted by a combination of cosmic nucleosynthesis considerations (light-element formation during the…
Virial Scaling of Massive Dark Matter Halos: Why Clusters Prefer a High Normalization Cosmology
- A. Evrard, J. Bialek, J. Diemand
- Physics
- 8 February 2007
We present a precise estimate of the bulk virial scaling relation of halos formed via hierarchical clustering in an ensemble of simulated cold dark matter cosmologies. The result is insensitive to…
redMaPPer. I. ALGORITHM AND SDSS DR8 CATALOG
- E. Rykoff, E. Rozo, R. Wechsler
- Physics
- 14 March 2013
We describe redMaPPer, a new red sequence cluster finder specifically designed to make optimal use of ongoing and near-future large photometric surveys. The algorithm has multiple attractive…
Mass estimates of X-ray clusters
- A. Evrard, C. A. Metzler, J. Navarro
- Physics
- 10 October 1995
We use cosmological gasdynamic simulations to investigate the accuracy of galaxy cluster mass estimates based on X-ray observations. The experiments follow the formation of clusters in different…
Dark Energy Survey year 1 results: Cosmological constraints from galaxy clustering and weak lensing
- D. Abbott, F. Abdalla, J. Zuntz
- PhysicsPhysical Review D
- 4 August 2017
We present cosmological results from a combined analysis of galaxy clustering and weak gravitational lensing, using 1321 deg2 of griz imaging data from the first year of the Dark Energy Survey (DES…
