Revisions of the international criteria for neuroblastoma diagnosis, staging and response to treatment.
- G. Brodeur, J. Pritchard, F. Hedborg
- MedicineProgress in clinical and biological research
- 1 August 1993
Substantial changes included a redefinition of the midline, restrictions on age and bone marrow involvement for stage 4S, and the recommendation that meta-iodobenzylguanidine scanning be implemented for evaluating the extent of disease.
Revisions of the international criteria for neuroblastoma diagnosis, staging, and response to treatment.
- G. Brodeur, J. Pritchard, F. Hedborg
- MedicineJournal of Clinical Oncology
- 1993
Modifications of the INSS and INRC made at this conference are presented and proposals are made for future modifications in these criteria and for the development of International Neuroblastoma Risk Groups.
The treatment of medulloblastoma. Results of a prospective randomized trial of radiation therapy with and without CCNU, vincristine, and prednisone.
It is concluded that chemotherapy does not benefit patients with low-stage medulloblastoma, but may benefit those with more advanced stages of disease.
Trk Receptor Expression and Inhibition in Neuroblastomas
- G. Brodeur, J. Minturn, A. Evans
- BiologyClinical Cancer Research
- 15 May 2009
The role of Trks in normal development, the different functions of Trk isoforms, and the major Trk signaling pathways are reviewed and the roles these receptors play in the heterogeneous biological and clinical behavior of neuroblastomas and the activation of TrK receptors in other cancers are reviewed.
The effectiveness of chemotherapy for treatment of high grade astrocytoma in children: Results of a randomized trial
- Richard Spostol, I. Ertel, D. Hammond
- MedicineJournal of Neuro-Oncology
- 1 July 1989
This study is to the authors' knowledge the only randomized trial to investigate effectiveness of chemotherapy in the treatment of high-grade astrocytoma in children and found that treatment with chemotherapy prolonged survival and event-free survival.
International criteria for diagnosis, staging and response to treatment in patients with neuroblastoma.
- G. Brodeur, R. Seeger, G. Haase
- MedicineProgress in clinical and biological research
- 1 December 1988
The criteria proposed herein represent an international consensus of essentially every major pediatric oncology group or organization in the United States, Europe, and Japan and serve as a foundation on which future modifications or improvements can be based.
International criteria for diagnosis, staging, and response to treatment in patients with neuroblastoma.

The criteria proposed herein represent an international consensus of essentially every major pediatric oncology group or organization in the United States, Europe, and Japan and serve as a foundation on which future modifications or improvements can be based.
Resistance to chemotherapy mediated by TrkB in neuroblastomas.
- R. Ho, A. Eggert, G. Brodeur
- BiologyCancer Research
- 15 November 2002
The results show that the TrkB-BDNF pathway provides a survival advantage when exposed to DNA-damaging reagents, and, therefore, this autocrine pathway may play an important role in mediating the drug-resistant phenotype associated with Trk-expressing neuroblastomas.
Proliferation of human neuroblastomas mediated by the epidermal growth factor receptor.
- R. Ho, J. Minturn, G. Brodeur
- Biology, MedicineCancer Research
- 1 November 2005
The results indicate that ZD1839 is a potent inhibitor of neuroblastoma cell proliferation; therefore, it may be a useful, biologically based therapeutic agent for these tumors.
A proposed staging for children with neuroblastoma. Children's cancer study group A
- A. Evans, G. D'angio, Judson Randolph
- MedicineCancer
- 1 February 1971
Short‐term survival data of this small sample demonstrated that the proposed staging appears to be of help in estimating the prognosis and a list of investigations which aid in accurate staging is proposed.
