The effect of lactic acid bacteria on intestinal metabolism and metabolic profile in gnotobiotic pigs.
The application of Lactobacillus casei affected positively the growth of gnotobiotic piglets, their intestinal metabolism, the level of cholesterol in the serum and phagocytic activity, as well as several parameters investigated.
A survey of Nicotiana germplasm for resistance to Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV)
The reaction to Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) was evaluated in 94 accessions of Nicotiana, originating from the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation tobacco germplasm collection in Puławy, Poland and demonstrated the presence of SCAR markers linked to the resistance gene.
Reaction of Nicotiana species and cultivars of tobacco to Tobacco mosaic virus and detection of the N gene that confers hypersensitive resistance
The response of Nicotiana species and cultivars of tobacco to Tobacco mosaic virus and detection of the N gene that confers hypersensitive resistance suggests that N. gossei could be an additional genetic resource for tobacco breeding.
Inheritance of Potato virus Y tolerance introgressed from Nicotiana africana to cultivated tobacco
Potato virus Y (PVY) is an important pathogen of tobacco. Growing resistant cultivars is the best way to prevent significant losses of the crop caused by this virus. However, the protection given by
Development of Potato virus Y (PVY) infection in susceptible and resistant tobacco cultivars (Short communication)
Comparing effects of inoculation of resistant (VAM, Wiślica) and susceptible (Samsun H, Burley 21) cultivars using three PVY isolates differing with their virulence finds the least virulent isolate (IUNG 5) broke the resistance of WiŚlica but not VAM, what contradicts results of previous inoculations tests using this isolate.
Development and cytometric evaluation of interspecific F1 hybrids Nicotiana tabacum × N. africana
s Abstract. One of the most important threats to tobacco cultivation is the Potato virus Y (PVY). Sources of resistance to PVY are found both in Nicotiana tabacum cultivars and in wild Nicotiana
Variations in the atmospheric pollutant immission (2009–2015) field near a large lignite-fired power plant (in Europe/Poland)
Emissions from the energy sector are one of the causes of poor air quality. The status of air pollution caused by the operation of large-size lignite-fired power plants was analyzed (in the years
Resistance Response of the Recently Discovered Species Nicotiana mutabilis to Potato virus Y (PVY) and Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) Compared to Other Sources of Resistance
This species extends the genetic variation in the genus Nicotiana and, because of its tolerance to PVY and partial resistance to TSWV, it may be a potential source of resistance to these viruses.
