There was an increase in the levels of PGD2 and a decrease in the concentration of LTB4 in asthmatic lavage samples and PAF was undetectable, which was no significant differences in the lavage concentrations of LTC4/D4/E4 and histamine between the two groups of individuals.

Incubation of eosinophils (EOS) with alveolar macrophage (AM) supernatants isolated from asthmatic subjects followed by stimulation with the calcium ionophore A23187 resulted in enhancement of the…

The active component of the lipopolysaccharides seems to be the lipid A portion of the leukotrienes.
Characterization of leukotriene B3: comparison of its biological activities with leukotriene B4 and leukotriene B5 in complement receptor enhancement, lysozyme release and chemotaxis of human…
The findings indicate that the pro-inflammatory potential of LTB3 and LTB4 are similar, whereas LTB5 is substantially less potent as an inflammatory mediator, due to the rigidity of the C-17-C-18 double bond in L TB5.
The contractile activities of lipoxin A4 and lipoxin B4 for guinea‐pig airway tissues

The isometric contractile activities of lipoxin A4 and lipoxin B4 were evaluated on guinea‐pig lung tissue over the concentration range and the time course of the contraction elicited by LxA4 was similar to that of LTD4 and it was slow in onset and did not plateau for 20 min.
Asthmatic airways have a disproportionate hyperresponsiveness to LTE4, as compared with normal airways, but not to LTC4, LTD4, methacholine, and histamine.

The results suggest that the mechanism of the bronchoconstriction induced by LTE4 may be distinct from that produced by LTC4 or LTD4 in subjects with asthma, and may reflect leukotriene subtype receptor heterogeneity in asthmatic airways.
Subcellular localization of enzymes involved in leukotriene formation within human polymorphonuclear granulocytes.
The subcellular localization of enzymes involved in leukotriene formation was analysed according to biological (chemotaxis, spasmogenic properties) and analytical methods and results indicated that the 200,000 g precipitate and supernatant fractions proved to be most active in generating 5-HETE and leukOTriene C4 (LTC4) respectively.
