Results indicate that oleandrin inhibits activation of NF-kappaB and AP-1 and their associated kinases, which may provide a molecular basis for the ability of ole andrin to suppress inflammation and perhaps tumorigenesis.

An HPLC/MS/MS method has been developed for the characterization and quantification of the cardiac glycosides ole andrin, odoroside, neritaloside and the aglycone oleandrigenin contained in a patented-hot-water extract of Nerium oleander L (Anvirzel) and mass spectra obtained with greater than 5 ppm mass accuracy and resolution routinely in excess of 8000 (fwhm).
