Food, reproduction and organic constitution of the common Antarctic echinoid Sterechinus neumayeri (Meissner).
Specimens of S. neumayeri in McMurdo Sound have discrete reproductive periodicities as do most echinoids in other parts of the world, and nutrients seem to be accumulated in the nutritive phagocytes of the gonad during the summer when phytoproduction occurs, and the gonads increase in size during this period.

ON THE REPRODUCTIVE CYCLE AND BREEDING HABITS OF TWO WESTERN SPECIES OF HALIOTIS
Changes in the size of Haliotis cracherodii and H. rufescens gonads relative to body size were followed throughout the year to study the reproductive cycle and breeding habits of haliotids.

Cellulose Digestion By The Silverfish Ctenolepisma Lineata
The silverfish, Ctenolepisma lineata, on a diet of cellulose alone shows a respiratory quotient of close to unity, indicating utilization of carbohydrate, presumably derived from cellulose, and the gut of the silverfish contains many micro-organisms, but none of the bacteria grown in favourable culture media are capable of digesting cellulose.
