Molecular phylogeny of Palaearctic genera of Gomphocerinae grasshoppers (Orthoptera, Acrididae)
TLDR
Molecular phylogenetic methods were used to examine morphologically based hypotheses concerning the taxonomic structure and relationships of the grasshopper subfamily Gomphocerinae and two tribes were distinguished – GomPHocerini and Stenobothrini.
Multiregional origin of B chromosomes in the grasshopper Eyprepocnemis plorans
TLDR
Analysis of chromosome localization of three molecular markers showed that B chromosomes in the grasshopper Eyprepocnemis plorans originated independently in Eastern (Caucasus) and Western (Spain and Morocco) populations.
Constitutive heterochromatin in karyotypes of two Cicadidae species from Japan (Cicadoidea, Hemiptera).
TLDR
Karyotypes of males of cicadas Tibicen bihamatus (Motschulski) and Platypleura kuroiwae Matsumura were studied using C-banding technique and two types of C- band distribution were observed.
C-heterochromatin in chromosomes of Ophiogomphus cecilia cecilia (Four.) (Anisoptera: Gomphidae) with notes on the sex chromosome origin in the species
TLDR
The karyotype of Ophiogomphus c Cecilia cecilia (2n_=23, X0) was analyzed using C-banding technique and possible ways of the formation of the X-chromosome are considered.
Karyotypes, C-heterochromatin, and NOR in three species of the genus Gampsocleis fieb. /Orthoptera: tettigonioidea: decticinae/
TLDR
The results indicate the presence of an adaptive response in lymphocyte of 3 normal donors, but in lymphocytes of 5 donors with trisomy 21 no significant adaptive response after irradiation with a low dose of gamma rays was found.
Comparative FISH analysis in five species of Eyprepocnemidine grasshoppers
TLDR
Analysis in five Eyprepocnemidinae species collected in Russia and Central Asia found that Caucasian E. plorans individuals carried each of the two DNAs, but the rDNA was limited to only two chromosomes in sharp contrast to Spanish specimens that show 4–8 rDNA clusters and to Moroccan specimens which carry rDNA in almost all chromosomes.
Differences in ribosomal DNA distribution on A and B chromosomes between eastern and western populations of the grasshopper Eyprepocnemis plorans plorans
TLDR
The existence of two evolutionary patterns in rDNA chromosome location in A chromosomes of this subspecies are suggested: eastern populations showing rDNA restricted to the small (9–11) chromosomes (as in E. p. plorans) and western populations carrying rDNA in most A chromosomes (Spain or all of them (Morocco).
C-banded karyotypes of some dragonfly species from Russia. II. The families Cordulegasteridae, Corduliidae and Gomphidae.
TLDR
The C-stained karyotypes of five species of three dragonfly families from Western Siberia and Kunashir Island showed usual character of C-heterochromatin distribution, all chromosomes have terminal C-bands.
