The results on mutagenic and non‐mutagenic aminonitrophenols and their derivatives suggest that the occurrence of mutagenics activity among these compounds depends on the nature of the substituent chemical groups and their position in the molecular structure of the compounds. Expand
Structure-activity relationship within a series of m-diaminobenzene derivatives.
Depending on the size of the substituting alkyl group at the C1 position of 2,4-diaminoalkylbenzene, a decline and loss of mutagenic activity was observed. Expand
Studies on the mutagenicity of p-phenylenediamine in Salmonella typhimurium. Presence of PCB's in rat-liver microsomal fraction induced by Aroclor.

- 1 December 1979
The mutagenicity of fresh solutions of p-phenylenediamine and Aroclor 1254 was investigated and, in the absence of metabolic activation, as well as in the presence of uninduced rat-liver homogenate, PPD was not mutagenic in the strains used. Expand
Structure--activity relationships within a series of 2,4-diaminoalkoxybenzene compounds.
The relative response of the various strains suggests that 2,4-diaminoalkoxybenzenes induce frameshift mutations but not base-pair substitutions, as shown in strains TA98, TA1538 and in some cases TA1537. Expand
Relationships between the Chemical Structure and Mutagenic Activity of Monocyclic Aromatic Amines
Hundreds of compounds have now been tested for mutagenic activity in many laboratories throughout the world. Mutagenicity tests are performed to validate a variety of assay systems and to contribute… Expand
Mutagenic evaluation of the monocyclic aromatic amine N-methylamino-2-nitro-4-N', N'-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-aminobenzene in the Salmonella typhimurium/mammalian microsome test.
The results indicate that N-methylamino-2-nitro-4-N', N'-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)aminobenzene does not induce mutations in Salmonella typhimurium strains, either in the absence or in the presence of the metabolic activation system. Expand
Studies on the mutagenicity of resorcinol and hydroxy-3-(p-amino)anilino-6,N-[(p-amino)phenol]benzoquinone-monoimine-1,4 in Salmonella typhimurium.
The nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of the reaction product of p-phenylenediamine and resorcinol was recorded and is in agreement with its chemical structure. Expand
The nonmutagenicity of purified 4-amino-2-nitrophenol in Salmonella typhimurium.
Two samples of 4-amino-2-nitrophenol were tested for mutagenicity in Salmonella typhimurium strains TA1535,TA1537, TA1538, TA98, and TA100, and toluene-insoluble contaminants of the TGA product were found to be mutagenic in the same strains as the T GA sample. Expand
Mutagenic evaluation of the hair-dye component 2,4-diaminophenoxyethanol in Salmonella typhimurium/microsome plate test and Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains D4 and XV185-14C.
The hair-dye coupler 2,4-diaminophenoxyethanol was tested for mutagenicity in the histidine-requiring mutants of Salmonella typhimurium and no mutagenic effect was observed. Expand
