Ketolides-telithromycin, an example of a new class of antibacterial agents.
- A. Bryskier
- Biology, ChemistryClinical Microbiology and Infection
- 1 December 2000
The nature of the side-chain substituting the C11-C12 carbamate residue is responsible for enhancing the in vitro and in vivo activities in comparison with clarithromycin, for the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties, forThe intracellular features, and for tolerance.
Macrolide-Resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes in the Pediatric Population in Germany during 2000-2001
- R. Reinert, R. Lütticken, A. Bryskier, A. Al-Lahham
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 February 2003
The overall resistance profile of streptococcal respiratory tract isolates is still favorable, but macrolide resistance is of growing concern in Germany.
In Vivo Pharmacodynamics of HMR 3270, a Glucan Synthase Inhibitor, in a Murine Candidiasis Model
- D. Andes, K. Marchillo, J. Lowther, A. Bryskier, T. Stamstad, R. Conklin
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 April 2003
A neutropenic murine model of disseminated candidiasis is utilized to describe the time course antifungal activity of HMR 3270, a new glucan synthase inhibitor, and the peak/MIC ratio necessary to produce efficacy was relatively similar among the strains studied.
Viridans group streptococci: a reservoir of resistant bacteria in oral cavities.
- A. Bryskier
- Medicine, BiologyClinical Microbiology and Infection
- 1 February 2002
The purpose of this short editorial is to highlight the importance of the viridans group streptococci as a reservoir of resistance to erythromycin A and the possible transfer of resistant bacteria to S. pneumoniae and S. pyogenes.
Interactions between HMR 3647, a New Ketolide, and Human Polymorphonuclear Neutrophils
- D. Vazifeh, A. Preira, A. Bryskier, M. Labro
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 August 1998
In contrast to other erythromycin A derivatives, HMR 3647 only weakly triggered granule exocytosis, but it inhibited superoxide anion production in a time- and concentration-dependent manner, with concentrations which inhibited 50% of control response.
In Vitro Activity of the New Ketolide Telithromycin Compared with Those of Macrolides against Streptococcus pyogenes: Influences of Resistance Mechanisms and Methodological Factors

- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 November 2000
The effect of 5 to 6% CO2 was remarkable on resistant strains, by increasing MICs of telithromycin from 1 to 6 twofold dilutions against D-E- and F-group isolates.
Comparative In Vitro Activities of XRP 2868, Pristinamycin, Quinupristin-Dalfopristin, Vancomycin, Daptomycin, Linezolid, Clarithromycin, Telithromycin, Clindamycin, and Ampicillin against Anaerobic…
- E. Goldstein, D. Citron, A. Bryskier
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 January 2005
A comparative study of the in vitro activities of XRP 2868 against 266 anaerobic gram-positive clinical isolates using the agar dilution method showed that the XRP2868 MICs for 95% of isolates were ≤0.5 μg/ml.
Clonal Relatedness of Erythromycin-Resistant Streptococcus pyogenes Isolates in Germany
- R. Reinert, R. Lütticken, A. Al-Lahham
- BiologyAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 April 2004
ABSTRACT In a nationwide study in Germany, a total of 381 Streptococcus pyogenes were collected. Erythromycin A-resistant strains were characterized for the underlying resistance genotype, showing…
Comparative Activities of Telithromycin (HMR 3647), Levofloxacin, and Other Antimicrobial Agents against Human Mycoplasmas
- C. Bébéar, H. Renaudin, A. Bryskier, C. Bébéar
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 July 2000
ABSTRACT The activities of telithromycin and levofloxacin against 99 mycoplasma strains were compared to those of several macrolides, ofloxacin, and doxycycline. Telithromycin MICs of ≤0.25 μg/ml…
