Andropogon bicornis (Poales, Poaceae): A Hibernation Site for Pentatomoidea (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) in a Rice-Growing Region of Southern Brazil
A combination of high species diversity observed during the colder months, including several unrelated to rice, and the absence of immature specimens in the tussocks strengthens the hypothesis that A. bicornis is a hibernation site for pentatomoids in the region.
Shield Bugs (Scutelleridae)
Scutelleridae Leach includes three subfamilies, 25 genera, and almost 100 species in the Neotropics, but polymorphisms and sexual dimorphisms have caused a considerable confusion in their taxonomy.
Abundance and species richness of Coreoidea (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Parque Estadual do Turvo, Southern Brazil.
The coreoid fauna from Neotropics is poorly known, especially in terms of community studies, and a two-year study carried out at Parque Estadual do Turvo, Municipality of Derrubadas, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to evaluate the composition, abundance and species richness of Coreoidea.
Cladistic analysis and biogeography of Brachystethus Laporte (Heteroptera, Pentatomidae, Edessinae)
The transferal of Brachystethus to Edessinae is here proposed, based on the cladogram, and congruence between the distributional pattern of the clade formed by B. rubromaculatus Dallas, 1851, and vicariant events on Neotropical region, in the late Cretaceous is shown.
Compared nymphal development of Tingis americana (Hemiptera, Tingidae) in two Handroanthus species (Bignoniaceae) and reproductive parameters in seedlings of Handroanthus heptaphyllus
The objective was to compare the nymphal development on both hosts and to analyze the reproductive parameters on H. heptaphyllus and Handroanthus chrysotrichus and to show whetheraired males and females showed similar longevity and unpaired females lived longer than unpaired males.
On the nymphs of lantana lace bug Teleonemia scrupulosa Stål (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Tingidae: Tinginae): ontogenetic features of integumentary structures highlighted.
The five instars of Teleonemia scrupulosa Stål are described. The postembryonic ontogenetic development of integumentary structures is emphasized, with a discussion on its potential use in cladistic
A new species of Pyrrhosphodrus (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae) from the Caatinga ecosystem in Brazil, with notes on the genus.
A new species of Reduviidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Caatinga ecosystem, Pyrrhosphodrus caatingensis Lapischies Forero sp. nov., is described. The new species is distinguished from its congeners
Hoplonannus australis sp. nov. (Hemiptera, Schizopteridae): amended diagnosis of the genus and first record from South America.
The first South American species of the Hoplonannus australis sp.
Occurrence of Diapause and the Role of Andropogon bicornis (Poaceae) Tussocks on the Seasonal Abundance and Mortality of Tibraca limbativentris (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)
The role of A. bicornis as an hibernation site for T. limbativentris in southern Brazil is highlighted, as this pest is a major pest of rice crops throughout Latin America and West Indian foxtail acts as a shelter for this pest.
Revision of Taurocerus (Heteroptera, Pentatomidae, Pentatomini)
Taurocerus Amyot & Serville, 1843 is revised based on morphology of male and female genitalia. Four species are recognized: T. edessoides (Spinola, 1837), T. achiles Stal, 1862, T. abruptus (Walker,
