Transmission of 'Candidatus Phytoplasma aurantifolia' to Bakraee (Citrus reticulata Hybrid) by Feral Hishimonus phycitis Leafhoppers in Iran.
To the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of natural transmission of 'Ca. P. aurantifolia' to bakraee seedlings by H. phycitis, and the identity of WBDL phytoplasma was verified in experimentally infected bakraEE seedlings.
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) shoot saponins: identification and bio-activity by the assessment of aphid feeding
The results show that the saponin composition in alfalfa changes with plant development and this, in turn, can often negatively affect the development of specific insect pests such as the spotted al falfa aphid, suggesting a possible biological role of alf calf saponins.
Study of Host Range of Hishimonus Phycitis (Dist.) and Effect of Lime Growth Conditions on Its Reproduction and Wbdl Intensity
The results of present study showed that H. phycitis reproduced only on Citrus and Ziziphus species, indicating that there is a probable variation among H.phyCitis population in Iran and the populations reported from other countries like India, and prefered young and fresh shoots for feeding and egg laying.
