The impact of next-generation sequencing on genomics.
- J. Zhang, R. Chiodini, A. Badr, Genfa Zhang
- Biology, MedicineJournal of genetics and genomics = Yi chuan xue…
- 20 March 2011
With its ability to tackle the unsolved challenges unconquered by previous genomic technologies, NGS is likely to unravel the complexity of the human genome in terms of genetic variations, some of which may be confined to susceptible loci for some common human conditions.
Dual effect of HBO on cerebral infarction in MCAO rats.
- A. Badr, W. Yin, G. Mychaskiw, J. Zhang

- 1 March 2001
The results of this study suggest that applying HBO within 6 h of ischemia-reperfusion injury could benefit the patient but that applied HBO 12 h or more after injury could harm the patient.
Down regulation of COX-2 is involved in hyperbaric oxygen treatment in a rat transient focal cerebral ischemia model
It is concluded that early intervention with HBO within 6 h reduces infarction and the neuroprotective effect of HBO might lead to an inhibition of COX-2 over-expression in cerebral cortex.
Hyperbaric oxygenation prevented brain injury induced by hypoxia–ischemia in a neonatal rat model
The results suggest that HBO is able to attenuate the effects of HI on the neonatal brain by reducing the progression of neuronal injury and increasing sensorimotor function.
Metabolic acidosis associated with a new formulation of propofol.
A case of severe metabolic acidosis associated with the new Propofol formulary of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine recently changed from the Zeneca product to the Baxter product for economic reasons.
Metabolic alterations in cerebrospinal fluid from double hemorrhage model of dogs
The data demonstrated a metabolic alteration of glucose, glutamate, lactate and pyruvate in CSF during cerebral vasospasm, which suggests that brain energy metabolites and excitative amino acids are altered during cerebral Vasospasm.
Metabolic syndrome associated with ischemic stroke among the Mexican Hispanic population in the El Paso/US-Mexico border region.

- MedicineJournal of stroke and cerebrovascular diseases…
- 1 July 2014
Odds ratios, 95% confidence intervals, logistic regression, and multivariate analysis of the ORs adjusted for other variables, were used to analyze the effects of various risk factors on ischemic stroke.
Critical Care Telemedicine: Evolution and State of the Art*
The inclusion of an ICU telemedicine program as a major part of their critical care delivery paradigm has been implemented for 11% of critically ill U.S. adults as a solution for the problem of access to adult critical care services.
Effect of hyperbaric oxygen on striatal metabolites: a microdialysis study in awake freely moving rats after MCA occlusion
It is suggested that altered brain energy metabolites and excitatory amino acids occurred during cerebral ischemia and and HBO regulated these striatal metabolites, which might contribute to the protective effect of HBO in cerebral is chemia.
