Effects of Essential Oils on Phytopathogenic Fungi In Vitro
The essential oils of Thymus vulgaris L., of Lavandula R.C. hybrid and Mentha piperita L. were tested in vitro against the pathogenic fungi and SEM observations revealed that these oils cause degeneration of the fungal hyphae which appeared emptied of their cytoplasmic content. Expand
Activity of polyphenolic crude extracts as scavengers of superoxide radicals and inhibitors of xanthine oxidase.
The total amount of anthocyanins and polyphenols present in the berries of several cultivars of Ribes, Rubus, and Vaccinium genera is determined and Ribes nigrum extracts exhibit the highest activity, being the richest in both Anthocyanin and Polyphenols. Expand

A series of 4H-1-benzopyran-4-one derivatives was synthesized and tested for inhibition of aldose reductase, an enzyme involved in the appearance of diabetic complications and possesses higher pKa values than carboxylic acids. Expand
Distribution of metals and phenolic compounds as a criterion to evaluate variety of berries and related jams
Polyphenols, anthocyanins, phosphate, iron, zinc, manganese, calcium, potassium, magnesium and sodium were evaluated both in berries belonging to the genera Rubus and Ribes and in related jams by… Expand
Studies on the genotoxic properties of essential oils with Bacillus subtilis rec-assay and Salmonella/microsome reversion assay.
Genotoxic properties of essential oils from Anthemis nobilis, Artemisia dracunculus, and Salvia officinalis were studied with Bacillus subtilis rec-assay and Salmonella/microsome reversion assay and DNA-damaging activity was demonstrated to be due to the estragol component of the oil. Expand
Anthocyanidines as inhibitors of xanthine oxidase.
Fruits of ribes, rubus, vaccinium and prunus genus. Metal contents and genome
Abstract The production of fruits of genus Ribes, Rubus, Vaccinium and Prunus is particularly important in mountain communities. The contents of macro- and microelements in fruits from different… Expand
Physico-chemical properties of anthocyanidins. Part 1. Theoretical evaluation of the stability of the neutral and anionic tautomeric forms
Abstract Quantum chemical (AM 1) and solvation model calculations have been applied to the study of tautomeric stabilities in three anthocyanidins, so as to single out the dominant tautomeric forms… Expand
Inhibition of lens aldose reductase by biflavones from Ouratea spectabilis.

- Planta medica
- 1 June 1995
Two biflavonoids were isolated from the EtOH extract from leaves of Ouratea spectabilis and established to be the novel 6,6"-bigenkwanin and 7,7"-dimethoxyagathisflavone on the basis of spectroscopic data. Expand
Chromium toxicity in Salvia sclarea - I. Effects of hexavalent chromium on seed germination and seedling development
Seeds and seedlings of Salvia sclarea L. were treated with different concentrations of hexavalent chromium and cotyledons appeared chlorotic, chlorophyll and carotenoid contents were reduced, but chloroplast ultrastructure was normal. Expand
