The applicability of transputers in control systems is investigated. This is done by implementing a controller for a flexible robot arm with one degree of freedom on a system consisting of an IBM-AT and four transputers. It is found that a control system with transputers offers a great improvement compared with conventional digital control systems.(More)
With the advent of the transputer in 1984, it has become feasible to create very powerful parallel processing systems at a moderate cost. The architecture of the transputer removes the need for special communication processors or shared memory buses, thus reducing the cost of cabling and components. Especially in embedded systems, the potential benefits of(More)
