The National Human Exposure Assessment Survey (NHEXAS)/Minnesota Children's Pesticide Exposure Study (MNCPES) was a population-based study designed to characterize children's exposure to residential pesticides and to evaluate the contribution of residential and children's activities to children's exposure. Families of 168 children were surveyed for… (More)
BACKGROUND The increase in invasive fungal infections (IFIs) in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is jeopardizing the survival of preterm neonates. Probiotics modulating the intestinal microflora of preterm neonates may minimize enteral fungal colonization. AIMS This study was to examine whether probiotic supplementation in neonates reduced fungal… (More)
BACKGROUND The spectrum of liver dysfunction in children with dengue infection is wide and has been associated with disease severity. AIMS This study was undertaken to estimate the range of hepatic involvement in dengue infection in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study assessed the biochemical and clinical profile of hepatic involvement by dengue… (More)
Identification, synthesis and structure-activity relationship of small-molecule VIPR1 antagonists encompassing two chemical series are described.
Pediatric tuberculosis (TB) includes asymptomatic primary infection, progressive pulmonary TB and extra-pulmonary disease. Skeletal TB occurs in 1-6% of the extra-pulmonary cases commonly involving spine (50-65%), hip and knee joints. Primary TB involving sternum is uncommon often causing a delay in clinical suspicion and diagnosis[2,3]. We report a 5… (More)

AimTo describe the parafoveal cone arrangement in emmetropic subjects and its variations with eccentricity, meridians and change in axial length in Indian eyes.MethodsWe imaged 25 subjects using compact adaptive optics (AO) retinal camera prototype, the rtx1. Imaging was done at 1, 2, and 3° eccentricity from the fovea in four meridians: nasal, temporal,… (More)

We hypothesized that (1) psychosocial… (More)
Snake venoms are a mixture of pharmacologically active proteins and polypeptides that have led to the development of molecular probes and therapeutic agents. Here, we describe the structural and functional characterization of a novel neurotoxin, haditoxin, from the venom of Ophiophagus hannah (King cobra). Haditoxin exhibited novel pharmacology with… (More)
