Erythropoietin receptor in B cells plays a role in bone remodeling in mice
- N. Deshet-UngerA. Kolomansky D. Neumann
- 9 July 2020
Medicine, Biology
Erythropoietin (EPO) is a key regulator of erythropoiesis. However, EPO receptors (EPO-Rs) are also expressed on non-erythroid cell types, including myeloid and bone cells. Immune cells also…
Extrahepatic cholangiocyte obstruction is mediated by decreased glutathione, Wnt and Notch signaling pathways in a toxic model of biliary atresia
- Sophia FriedD. Gilboa O. Waisbourd-Zinman
- 5 May 2020
Medicine, Biology
A novel pathway of cholangiocyte injury in a model of biliary atresia is presented, which is relevant to human BA and may suggest potential future therapeutics.
Erythropoietin enhances Kupffer cell number and activity in the challenged liver
- D. GilboaYasmin Haim-Ohana D. Neumann
- 4 September 2017
Biology, Medicine
A new role for EPO is revealed in stimulating KC proliferation and phagocytosis, and in recruiting Ly6Chi monocytes in response to liver injury in a model of acute acetaminophen-induced liver injury.
Recombinant Erythropoietin and Darbepoetin Alpha Exert a Similar Dose-Dependent Osteopenic Effect Which May Advocate for "Start Low, Go Slow" Dosing Strategy in Clinical Practice
- K. AlbertK. Albert D. Neumann
- 2 December 2016
Medicine
Applying clinically comparable dosing regimen, both recombinant EPO and DA exert a similar, dose-dependent bone loss, not directly proportional to the erythroid response, however, DA, in contrast to EPO, spares the preosteoblast and bone marrow B cell populations.
Transdifferentiation of Bone Marrow Pro-B Cells into Bone-Resorbing Osteoclasts- an Unexpected Role for Erythropoietin
- N. Deshet-UngerSahar Hiram‐Bab D. Neumann
- 2 December 2016
Medicine, Biology
A new physio-pathological role for BM B cell precursors in bone metabolism, via their capacity to differentiate into functional osteoclasts, and a possible role for EPO in this process is suggested.
Erythropoietin Mediated Increase in Monocyte-Derived Liver Macrophages; A Role for Kupffer Cells?
- D. GilboaYasmin Haim-Ohana D. Neumann
- 3 December 2015
Medicine, Biology
The present study points to a new as hitherto unexplored action of EPO on two separate liver macrophage populations (Kupffer cells and MFs) which play crucial and distinct roles in liver homeostasis and immunity as well as in liver pathologies.
Liver Macrophages (Kupffer cells) As Novel Targets of Erythropoietin
- D. GilboaY. Haim D. Neumann
- 6 December 2014
Medicine, Biology
Using transgenic mice, overexpressing human EPO (tg6 mice), it is found that they have a 2 fold increased level of F4/80 positive liver macrophages, compared to wt mice, suggesting that EPO may have pleiotropic activities.
